We warmly welcome Rev. Bartel Elshout to our congregation this coming Sunday August 2, 2026.

Rev. Elshout has served as pastor of the Kalamazoo Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, since 2023. Previously, he served the Heritage Reformed Congregation of Jordan, Ontario, from 1998 to 2005; the Heritage Reformed Congregation of Chilliwack, British Columbia, from 2005 to 2012; and the Heritage Reformed Congregation of Hull, Iowa, from 2015 to 2023. He continues to serve as a part-time instructor at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Before entering the pastoral ministry, Rev. Elshout served as the founding principal of the Netherlands Reformed Christian School in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, from 1975 to 1984, and subsequently as an evangelist in Denver, Colorado, from 1984 to 1989.

Of particular value to the English-speaking Reformed church has been Rev. Elshout’s extensive translation work. He translated Wilhelmus à Brakel’s four-volume The Christian’s Reasonable Service, Theodore VanderGroe’s two-volume exposition of the Heidelberg Catechism, The Christian’s Only Comfort in Life and Death, and Alexander Comrie’s The Distinctives of Saving Faith. Through these considerable labors, important works from the Dutch Reformed tradition have been made accessible to a much broader audience and preserved for future generations.

Rev. Elshout was married to his first wife, Joan, until her passing in 2013. Together they were blessed with two children, David and Sarah, and seven grandchildren. In 2015, he married his present wife, Clarice, and they now reside in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

We are grateful for the opportunity to receive Rev. Elshout among us and warmly invite you to join us in welcoming him to our congregation.

We warmly welcome our friend, Dr. David H. Kranendonk, to our church this coming Lord’s Day, July 26, 2026 as we hope to celebrate the Lords Supper and witness the sacrament of Baptism administered to three children of our congregation. We invite you to join us this Sunday and pray that the Lord would be in our midst to His own honor.

Dr. Kranendonk serves the Free Reformed Churches of North America as Professor of Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Before entering this role, he served the Free Reformed Church of Bornholm, Ontario, from 2003 to 2013, and the Free Reformed Church of Oxford County, Ontario, from 2013 to 2021.

He received his Master of Divinity degree from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary in 2003, his Master of Theology degree from Calvin Theological Seminary in 2008, and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Theological University of Apeldoorn in 2021.

Dr. Kranendonk is also the author of several books, including Vital Balance: The Pursuit of Professors J. J. van der Schuit, G. Wisse, and L. H. van der Meiden. In this work, he considers three ministers and professors who recognized the necessity of balanced preaching. They understood that imbalance in preaching was perilous to the efficacy of the Gospel as God applies His truth to the heart.

This is the same precious Reformed heritage we seek to maintain: preaching that is both doctrinal and experiential, declaring man’s complete ruin in Adam and the fullness of salvation found in Jesus Christ.

We are grateful for the opportunity to have Dr. Kranendonk among us and warmly invite you to join us this Lord’s Day as we welcome him to our congregation.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1 (KJV)

We had perfect weather for our church picnic. Although a few families were unable to join us, it was a wonderful time of fellowship, friendship, and meaningful conversation as we enjoyed one another’s company and reflected upon the shared values that unite us.
