The impulse to cover failure begins early, like children whispering “don’t tell mom” after reckless choices. This instinct follows us into adulthood, where shame over mistakes drives isolation instead of confession. Adam and Eve’s fig leaves symbolize humanity’s futile attempts to self-manage guilt. Hiding fractures relationships with God and others, trapping us in cycles of fear. Yet God walks into our mess, calling us out of bushes into grace. Healing starts when we stop pretending. [04:10]

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3:8, NIV)

What “fig leaf” have you been clutching lately to cover shame? How might hiding this struggle be deepening your isolation?

LifeFocus New Testament | Week 22 Wrap
Acts 21:37 - Acts 28 | May 25 - 31, 2026

Paul’s journey from Acts 21:37 through Acts 28 reminds us that faithfulness to God does not always lead to easy circumstances. Arrested, falsely accused, shipwrecked, and placed under guard, Paul faced trial after trial, yet he continued to boldly share the hope of Christ wherever he went. Whether standing before rulers, encouraging frightened sailors in a storm, or welcoming visitors while under house arrest, Paul trusted that God’s purpose had not changed, even when his circumstances did. Again and again, we see God’s faithfulness sustaining him through uncertainty and hardship.

There are seasons in life when we may feel delayed, misunderstood, or stuck in situations we never would have chosen. But Acts reminds us that God is still at work in the waiting, the storms, and the detours. Paul’s story encourages us to remain faithful where we are, trusting that no setback is beyond God’s ability to use for His glory. Even when the path looks different than expected, God’s plans continue moving forward.

If you're not walking through the New Testament with us in 2026, it's never too late to start. Open your LifeFocus devotional today and read along with us! Pick up a copy at the Welcome Center Sunday mornings.

May brought a lot of life around the church. From staff meetings and Mother’s Day celebrations to grounds volunteers hard at work, exercise classes, fresh flowers, and welcoming smiles at reception, it was a month full of meaningful moments. We’re grateful for all that happened in May and look forward to what June will bring.

This Sunday, May 31, is Family Sunday, and we are looking forward to a special morning of worship together. During our services, children will join us in worship (no Kids Ministry), creating a meaningful opportunity for generations to gather together in praise and fellowship. Students will also be participating in the services, and we are excited to share this time with them as we worship the Lord side by side. We hope you’ll join us for this special Sunday as we come together.

Our services are at 8:45 am and 10:45 am. For more info about our services, visit www.ccgf.org.
