🌎 From Sept. 1 to Oct. 4, many United Methodists will join with Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians and fellow Protestants in observing the Season of Creation. The new addition to the church calendar honors the triune God’s role as creator. This year’s theme, “Living Water,” is based on Ezekiel 47:9 and 12 — a biblical vision of hope and ecological restoration.🔹️ This new observance comes amid the Ecumenical Decade of Climate Justice Action (2025-2034), organized by the World Council of Churches, which counts United Methodists among its founders and includes both Orthodox and Protestant member churches.
United Methodists are joining with Christians across traditions in adding a shared feast day and season that focuses on God, the Creator. The season coincides with an ecumenical focus on addressing climate change.
