Isaiah 64 :6 "All of us are dirty with sin all the right things we have done are like filthy pieces of cloth all of us are like dead leaves and our sins like the wind have carried us away no one worship you or even ask you to help us." Sometimes we need to be reminded about our status in life. Isaiah said ""All" . of us are dirty with sin. Then it doesnt seem fair that we should judge a person by one bad day they are having. In fact isaiah's comments should put our judgment on the top of the list of things not to do. There is however a way to see what the other days of a person might be like. Some would call that our ability to be fruit inspectors. There is judgment coming for all of us at some point in the afterlife. We will all stand before God and receive what rewards or lack of rewards will be ours. So much time is wasted by judging others, when clearly Isaiah tells us we have all sinned. However Isaiah reveals a time later when the Wolves and the lambs will eat together in peace. He says I will make a new heaven and a new Earth and people will not remember the past or think about those things we will be happy forever.(64:17) I especially like verse 20 that tells us a "person who lives 100 years will be called young." perhaps we should spend less time talking about the sins of others and more time . getting rid of our own sin. Isaiah 53 shows us a very vivid picture of Jesus as the suffering servant. As Easter approaches we can see perhaps a better path of being a servant of the most high God. This time would be a good time to be introspective of our own misdoings. Being the hands and feet of Jesus is a huge task. It does however bring the greatest of rewards. Perhaps those rewards will not be seen here but by faith know they wait for you. A new season is upon us. It would do us well to make every season a new season. A season designed to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to others and to renew our commitment to the Lord as his servants. Today could be our last day here on Earth. What kind of a day would you be able to say you had at the end of today? I trust God will give you a day to remember. A day that will remind you and others of his great love. Pastor K

That's a very good question. What's on my mind. It's been a very long long couple of months. Because of all of my health issues I've not been able to regularly post any devotions. My effort to continue with my devotions is difficult. But as I am able and between dr visits, I will make an effort to be as diligent in my postings. Despite what things we all experience in life, as believers in the goodness of God and his love for all of us who believe in his Son Jesus Christ , we must carry on doing as Paul said, the work of the master is to continue and in due time we will be rewarded knowing our work is not in vain. There are indeed times when we feel our efforts go unnoticed, however we are creatures of faith not feelings and I believe wholeheartedly that many of us like those of the Hebrews Faith Chapter will not see our reward here, but will indeed be rewarded for our faithfulness . Miracles are still possible while we journey on with our Lord, So stay steadfast and loyal to God's word and to the Son from whom all our blessings come. Like many of you my inabilities to do the work I want to do is often hindered only by my lack of trust in the one who can fashion us to be servants of the most high God. I lost a very dear friend this week. Her journey ended and now she gains the reward of her faithfulness while she was here on Earth. The apostle Paul said we are to forget the past look ahead toward the future keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called us through Christ to the life above . He also said don't worry about anything but pray and ask God for everything you need and always give thanks to God's for peace which is so great will keep your hearts and minds forever in Christ Jesus. Well I guess nothing can be added to Paul's words. I pray God's rich blessing on all of you that you may know the peace of God in a way that you have not experienced before. Peace Is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God. May your day be filled with hope love peace forgiveness and the knowledge that you are loved by the God of the universe. pastor Kay

As this new year progresses 1 Timothy 1: 4 " Timothy says it is a good thing And a desirable thing that God should want for all men to come to the knowledge and truth of Jesus Christ. Those words from Timothy remind me of another who looked to God for a life of blessing for himself and others. This month being a month where we have put in place a new president, I've found it interesting to review some words from a former president." Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of the Almighty God to obey his will to be grateful for all the benefits and humbly to implore his protection and favor end quote" That quote came from our very first president George Washington.:I I got to thinking about how profound those words were. Here we are many years later And it makes me grateful that the very first Founding Father of our country had his heart and mind toward the Providence of God. Sometimes we forget that when we pray for our families our children our grandchildren we are praying for future followers of Christ. Someone way back in your history may be the one who prayed you into the Kingdom of God. Since we clearly see that God's will is for all men to come to Christ and to come to the truth and knowledge of the Christ It seems that the responsibility to carry out God's plan rests with you and me. When we consider the life of George Washington we are in awe of the journey to fight battles, Both successful and unsuccessful. It appears from many sources that the father of our country knew the father in heaven. His writings showed he had a deep knowledge of the Bible and his actions demonstrated he embraced the Christian faith. He had what could only be called a glorious legacy. There is something beautiful about remembering that our first president looked to God for his help in his presidency and as a strong advocate for the Christian faith. I believe his strong faith set the foundation so firmly that in reality His many prayers still abound these many years later. Oh that it would be true that we could all say I live in a United States. As we begin a journey with a new president may your words be those that will form the basis for a united states. Many lives have been sacrificed to continue the work that God has for his children. You have purpose. Each of us has purpose and it and behooves us to unite our hearts and minds toward that end. Scripture tells us you have not because you ask not . Perhaps now is a good time for you to search for your purpose so that we might one day be able to as brothers and sisters, work together as one for the purpose of leading others to that divine Providence. George's son wants commented that his father had the high respect of the clergy and the American army. It was not uncommon for George to fill in for services reading the scriptures and praying with them when no chaplain was available. I guess my point is that We have this firm foundation because of people like George Washjngton. As this new year progresses may we find ourselves looking more toward the Providence of God than our own well being. Perhaps you will be someone who like Timothy we will see the desirability to affect others for Christ. Help others to find the truth. Pastor Kay

1 Samuel 17;36 Because the Lord has saved me from a lion and a bear he surely will save me from this philistine. Saul put his own clothes on David. The problem was souls armor was too heavy for David. It's a good example of not relying on anyone else's faith or in this case armor. Whatever faith Saul had could not be transferred to David. But it didn't seem to bother David. And why was David going to take on this feat? He says That the Philistines have spoken against the army of the Living God. We all know the story of David and his slingshot. To give you some guide as to how imposing the Philistine giant was, he was 9 foot 6 inches tall. If you have an opportunity to measure that out you can see why so many feared the Philistine and the armies of the Philistines. Scripture says David picked up five stones from the stream to use in his slingshot to kill the giant. Some have said he chose 5 because The giant had other brothers and David was prepared to kill all of them. So what did David have for tools except the slingshot. David said you come to me using a sword and two Spears but I come to you in the name of the Lord all powerful the god of the armies of Israel you have spoken against him today the Lord will hand you over to me and I'll kill you and cut off your head. Now prior to that The giant try to intimidate David by cursing him by saying he'd feed his body to the birds in the air and the wild animals. We can see David's great faith and determination to kill the giant Scripture says as Goliath came nearer to David david ran quickly to meet him he took a stone from his bag and put it in the sling and slung it the stone hit the Philistine and went deep into his forehead and Goliath fell face down on the ground. Notice there was no hesitation with David. He ran to meet the giant. I confess it's been a while since I've run toward a problem with that great of faith. I am however taking small steps and at least going in the right direction. Perhaps it was David's youth and his inexperience that made him run to the giant. But I'd like to think that it was the enormous amount of faith he had acquired overtime. Once again we are reminded of the importance of teaching our children to be servants of God to be faithful and to live a life that exemplifies godly behavior. We can all be David's. I believe children are born with a natural attachment to God. Unfortunately they often learn behavior that does not exemplify God. As parents we can all have a David in our home. Scripture tells us to teach our children well. You too may have a David living in your home. May your faith continue to grow and may you destroy the enemies that would come against you and the living God. Pastor Kay

Song of Solomon 2:15 "Catch the foxes for us , the little foxes that spoil the vine" Song of Solomon is what many consider the great love song of the Bible. Among the many words of love are also words that help us in our relationships with each other. The first little foxes that spoil the vine is a significant part of any relationship when we look at the true meaning of that verse It was little foxes can do a great amount of damage to a vineyard. But they are not the only ones that can inflict damage to the vineyard. Of course we're talking about relationships with each other and what things might come between us and a friend or or husband or wife. Notice that the scripture says catch the foxes for us. In all of our relationships it's so important to look for those things that might hurt our relationships with each other and with our Savior. Sometimes and very often unknown to us we are engaging in a relationship that may be wonderful or not so good. With our relationship with Jesus Christ it requires catching those little foxes before they spoil a relationship. What are some of those foxes? Well let's see, our prayer life. If let go can cause serious damage to our relationship with Jesus. Anytime we choose some other activity overspending time with our Lord, it can inflict great damage to our relationship. Keep in mind that the scripture says little foxes. It appears that small things can damage significantly a relationship. Having loving relationships with people around you is a challenge. But being aware of those little foxes goes a long way in improving our Walk of Faith. We are not looking for foxes we are making ourselves aware of what could be harmful to our faith journey. Praying, reading the Bible, engaging in activities that are not harmful to us or others are some ways that can improve our relationship with Jesus. As you walk through and live through your own vineyard experience watch out for those little foxes! Pastor Kay

Ecclesiastes 3 /1 There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the sun. My daughter and I were discussing how dismal it is when it gets dark so early. We apparently share that unhappiness with over a million other people who belong to an organization called SAD. It seems that there is an actual tendency toward being or feeling more or less depressed in those times. king Solomon reminded us That there will be a season for everything the psalmist david wrote that person who serves God is like a tree planted by streams of water which yield its fruit in season and whose leaves do not wither Whatever they do prospers our feelings about the weather light or darkness Can be powerful tools of despair feelings of joy. So I think we can see through the scriptures at least these few that we can't always depend on our motions jesus said he is the light of the world and if you have Jesus living in you then you have constant light. Paul said I know what it is to be in need and I know what it is to have plenty I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation whether I'm well fed or hungry whether living plenty or in want I can do all this through him through Christ who gives me strength that's pretty powerful don't you think? So if winter is not your Cup of tea so to speak and if you wait long enough your season will come around so in the meantime let's not be weary and well doing paul says Therefore we do not lose heart though our outward body is wasting away we are inwardly being renewed day by day. We cannot rely on our feelings in all cases. I am happy for the 4 seasons And I'm sure you can find some wonderful moments in all seasons. God has created an earth of beauty and delight in so many places. And while your season may be far ahead try hard to enjoy this season knowing that the light of the world lives in you. Amen

L Thess.5:6 Scripture tells us to rejoice always to pray without ceasing and to give thanks whatever happens. No I like you have a very difficult time understanding how to rejoice in all situations. Our world seems to have gone a bit crazy they are shootings and wars and famines and all those sorts of things going on that are of the evil nature. The Paul's suggestion of giving thanks always and of rejoicing comes out of a relationship with Jesus Christ where we understand who is our protector our guide the one we can go to when things are really really difficult. Our attention must be turned to the Lord at all times otherwise those moments of uncertainty and doubt and fear and all this other feelings will rise to the surface. One of the most unused portion of this scripture is gratitude. We seem to have created a world of ungrateful and many times unaware of their lack of gratitude. Remember some of the words your mom and dad taught you when you were little? Remember mom saying say please thank you.? And since Paul has decided that to encourage the believers of that time he would give them these three very important messages. Pray without ceasing what on Earth does that mean? It means that while you're at work while you're bouncing a basketball around while you're cooking dinner while you're at the movies you still Can be aware of others and of God. We need to have a mindset that says even though I am far away from this tragedy around the world I can still pray for those who are afflicted by it There should never be a day where you have to think up something to pray about. So strange trifecta isn't it,? Is there anything that is too small or too big to pray about? Of course not! Someone once told me they bought a chicken to the pastor to pray for it. Did he pray for it? Yes of course. To us that chicken was just a chicken. But to the child it was his friend. On the other hand the scope of evil in the world is overwhelming at times. God certainly must be disappointed at times with his creation. In this new year can we all make a packed that we will stand united against evil and united with others in prayer. Notice in prior verses we are told to live at peace with man as much as is possible. I always add, and sometimes it ain't possible. Piano Keys are black and white sharps and flats and played by the unlearned sounds very much like something you would not want to hear again. However when those keys are blended that is black and white keys become beautiful music. Also to pray about everything and I'm sure he meant everything. I've learned a lot about prayer patients understanding This year. So I pray I will not lose fight of the valuable lessons God is teaching me. Pray that I keep my eyes and ears open to what his course is for me. And while I wait for his total direction I will indeed be prayerful be grateful and make an effort to rejoice more often. John 14 6 ;6 And John's gospel he shares a bit about who Jesus really was and is I was thinking today about how we respond to some things like if there's an accident generally and I've been to a few not a lot thank God but if you would hear the testimonies of people in accidents one of the things they might say is o mygod.! No I just realized I repeated myself in this devotional but sometimes it b having to do so in order to get to the real essence of the devotional. My point is or even I am asking you what was the point of having made such wonderful human beings and then we seemed to destroy everything that he has given to us in order to live a rich and full life I was spiritually and here on Earth. It's a strange thing but do all of those crying out to God in times if peril accidents and so forth.. It almost appears from my point of view certainly not from gods because I don't know what is in his plan and I'm based on this last year i'd say I clearly don't understand what God is doing but I by faith I will continue to walk this walk with him. So I guess I'm saying it's reasonable to think that God made a place inside of us to help determine what is right and what is wrong now we can have a good conscience we can have a bad conscience we can have many things that are outside the purview of God. So perhaps we can take this new year celebration and Learn from the master. During the holidays we often see people become more generous more thoughtful they smile more because basically and we don't know that but basically it's Christmas and they're celebrating. Wind it be wonderful to just cry out to God in Thanksgiving rather than in a time of deep distress.* I saw a news report about an 8 year old boy who was having lunch in his school with a friend. His friend started choking so the little 8 year old got up and did the Heimlich maneuver on him. It didn't take forever to decide if he was going to help save his friends life or just go on with his lunch. Jesus said he was the way the truth and the life. The disciples were not fools looking for some kind of elevation to heaven's door they The scripture tells us that there's a disciples all had their moments of growth and their are moments of disappointment. I am sure that all of the trials and tribulations that the disciples went through was indeed a time when sharing the gospel was so overwhelming to so many people after all the disciples were just their ragtag group of of guys who wanted to set the world on fire. I guess it doesn't make much sense but I have to ask myself why would 11 chosen disciples decide even in death to proclaim their master's name? Perhaps we can take a great deal of comfort in the fact that these disciples did indeed turn the world upside down for Jesus. So my new year's r rquest For you keep following in the master's footsteps. pastor

A reminder born Luke chapter two verse 7." It was time for Mary to give birth to her first born son. Because there was no room in the inn, She wrapped her baby with a piece of cloth and laid him in a box where animals are a fed." So now what? The carols have all been sung, the Nativities placed back in their boxes, for some they will not hear the story of the birth of Christ until next Christmas. Churches were full and Celebrations were everywhere. We know so little about the growing up years of Jesus, But Luke chapter two verse 40 says" The little child grew and became strong, he was filled with wisdom and God's goodness was upon him." Mary and Joseph knew that they had received a wonderful gift from God. They also Knew the importance of raising their child in a Godly manner. After Jesus was born much like today when a woman gives birth it's the beginning of a journey that lasts a lifetime. Now that the packages are opened and the festivities are winding down, I trust the joy and excitement that came into your life because of the birth of Christ will go on and on and on. We know very little about those years when Jesus was growing up. What we can tell you is that Mary and Joseph certainly knew something about the Darkness that would one day change their world forever. I am glad that you took time to celebrate the birth of Christ. I am glad that Christmas has brought you some joy. But just as Jesus grew in wisdom and in knowledge, so we should take the spirit of Christmas to our hearts where we can grow in our faith and our trust in Jesus on a daily basis. The shepherds went back to shepherding with a new joy in their heart and a new hope. The Kings left their gifts To the king of Kings and Lord of Lords! The celebration in the stable was now complete, and it was time to go on with the life, having seen and experienced the joy of what will become the joy of our salvation. It might be a good idea to pull out some of those Christmas carols that we only use during this season and use them all year round. I have a nativity set that I keep up all year round. Perhaps you can find something to focus on after Christmas Like the star on the tree to remind us of the star Of Bethlehem. Well of course I am hoping that your attention turns not only to the Christ child in Bethlehem but the Savior on the cross. From the cradle to the grave Jesus stands as a reminder that joy, real joy can be ours each and every day of the year. I ask in the beginning now what? The answer is easy. Allow Jesus to not just be a part of the festivities but a part of your heart. May you have found a new joy this Christmas, and may your new year be filled with opportunities and possibilities to help others know the Christ of Christmas! To a place of humbleness where you have not been before ? philippians 2:1 " Does your life in Christ give you meaning? Does the love of God comfort you? Do you share together in spirit with other Christians? Do you have mercy and kindness? Christ himself was like God in everything he did .He not think that being equal with God was something to be used or for his benefit. Jesus was born to be a man and became like a servant. He humbled himself and was fully obedient to God even when it took his life on the cross. Somehow humility strikes me as something to be had in greater measure on the holidays particularly Christmas. The apostle Paul gives us good instructions he says don't be selfish don't try to impress others be humble thinking of others as better than yourself don't look out for your own interest but take an interest in others too. I suppose we all have a little work to do on our spirit life since Paul says that we are to do everything without complaining and arguing! Ohh my, I just lost half of my readers. Paul says that we are to be a light a bright light shining in the world full of darkness. Are you that bright light? Are you the one who now on Christmas this year we'll make a difference in someone else's life? Are you a give a gift get a gift kind of person? If you are perhaps rereading Paul's admonition about humility might be a place to start. Have you lost friends or family members because of some political choices, disagreements about skin color or ethnic background? Christmas and New Year's are a wonderful times to reevaluate our spiritual faith and growth. Has God taken away some things that you thought were important? Has he reduced your life To a place of humbleness where you have not been before? In my struggles with many health issues, I believe doctors have seen nearly every part of my body. And for an old woman that equates to having been humbled by God. This Christmas many people will have things taken from them. If we truly are people of faith We should be able to focus on the things God has given to us. The greatest joy of Christmas season is the birth of Christ not only for Christmas but for all time. God gave us his only son. From the cradle to the grave Jesus is to be praised! Make your New Year's resolutions ones that will include being able to see how childish and yes I said Childish it is to separate yourself from people you love because of the reasons I've mentioned. Remember all of the people that Jesus touched and healed while he was here. The woman with the issue of blood should never have been touched by Jesus. It was against Jewish law. The man possessed by demons certainly shouldn't have been touched by Jesus but he was healed. The blind Man, the man with a crippled arm, and so many more. Your opinions only matter if the end result is helping someone to see God's love or bringing light to a very dark world. We have all lost people through misunderstandings. we love and care about but for whatever reason we were not able to make amends with them. A good place to start searching for the humility God intends for us is to look at Paul's words at the end of Philippians, where Paul says I know I've not reached my goal but I keep trying to move ahead to reach the goal and get the prize for which God has called me. In that verse he says forgetting the past. Dear ones do not cling to things that were of the past things that cannot be made right. If there are things that can be made right by all means give it your best shot. I don't normally talk about humility with regard to Christmas but it certainly is the essence of Christmas. Perhaps we can try harder to be less involved with ourselves and more involved with others. Paul says in Philippians I can do all things that requires to strengthens me! Having come through hours and hours of therapy,, I can attest to the fact that God does give us strength when we need it. Becoming what God wants us to be may not be the easiest road to travel, but the rewards are beyond measure. So back to the original verse, does your life in Christ give you meaning? Does the love of God comfort you and are you willing to place others ahead of you? I pray the new year will bring to you wonderful opportunities to share the love of God with others and to grow in strength and peace love joy and all the things that God desires for us as his children.MERRY CHRISTMAS and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! Acts 231 " I have lived my life without guilt feelings before God up to this day" Those are the words of Paul the Apostle. As we approach a new year, and we begin to make resolutions for the coming year, we usually think in terms of something we might give up or if we are really serious, we might recognize a need to look into our spiritual growth, And make some new choices about the way we are choosing right and wrong. The Greek word for conscience is translated moral awareness. If we choose to live our lives in a relationship with God then it would seem that we need to know what he desires of us. The world is full of ups and downs ins and outs right and wrong big and small . and a myraid of other choices. Paul examined his own words and found them to be in accordance with his morals and value system which were of course based on God's standards. As the New Year is approaching, We ask ourselves how can we keep in good standing with God. We do this by applying the word of God to our lives continually. It is indeed possible to have a change of heart and a clear conscience and a mind that is filled with God things. There is a song that says change my heart o God make it ever new. As we continue to enjoy the festivities of the Christmas season, let's make a choice in the new year to keep a watch on ther Right and wrong choices we make. God is a merciful and loving God able to grant mercy and forgiveness to those of us who ask. If you are having difficulty with the actions of the past year, remember it will be a new year and God promises a new life when we come to him asking for his grace and love and forgiveness. May your new year be filled with memories of this Christmas past and the joys that can come in the new year! There are still joys to be had, and trials to overcome But there is always someone by our side to help us finish the journey.
