Seneca United Methodist

Seneca United Methodist At the Seneca UMC our aim is to become friends with Jesus and help others become friends with Jesus too.

The Seneca UMC, or Seneca's 'Church on Main Street' as it is often called, is a community of persons focused and centered on Christ. We are called to gather as the people of God that we might become friends with Jesus and sent into the world to serve and to help others become friends with Jesus, too.

Pastor Jackie is starting a Bible study this Wednesday night, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of the Seneca United Methodist Church.

We will begin this Fall's study in Luke 15:11-32, where we will take a fresh look at the parable of the Prodigal Son. This is scheduled to be a two-week study. I've attached an outline that Pastor Jackie will use for this study.

After we conclude the Luke 15 study, we will continue with a study of Adam Hamilton's book:"The Message of Jesus".

And Matthew 28, Jesus final words to his disciples were to go and make disciples of all peoples. Many people refer to this as the Great Commission. In order to fulfill Christ's command to go into the world we need to prepare ourselves, and the way we prepare is to study God's Word.

Hope you can find time to study with us.

July’s long days often showcase our accomplishments -- gardens growing, projects completed, family memories made. We naturally take pride in what we’ve helped create. But Revelation 4 reveals something profound about worth and worship.

In heaven’s throne room, twenty-four elders wear golden crowns -- symbols of their authority and achievement. Yet when they encounter the holy God, they do something remarkable. They cast their crowns before God’s throne, declaring in verse 11, “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, because you created all things. It is by your will that they existed and were created.”

These leaders understand what John Wesley called the truth about grace -- everything good comes from God first. Our abilities, opportunities, and achievements aren’t self-made. They’re gifts from the One who created us.

This truth frees us from two traps: pride that says “I earned this myself” and shame that says “I’m not worth much.” Both dissolve when we see ourselves from heaven’s perspective. Our worth comes from being created by God. Our joy comes from offering our gifts back in worship and service.
