All of us who have attended Sunday School and church throughout most of our lives know the story of Mary and Martha. However often when we have been faithful worshipers we have a tendency to only hear with our ears not our hearts. We go to church services and Bible studies only to hear the same references we have heard many times before. In fact we probably could repeat them back to another with very little effort. Now I am not saying that this is a negative. In fact I have great admiration for someone who truly know their Bible. However, It is a positive only if we have opened our hearts to Gods Holy Word and allowed his spirit to reveal to us his true meaning of the story or passage. I grew up attending both Sunday School and church. Bye the time I was eight years old i was familiar with most Bible stories, but that was all they were just stories. It was not until I allowed God's Holy Spirit to live in me that I gained a deep understanding of what he was trying to teach me. God needs Marys and Marthas in his church. We should all be eager to serve. There is certainly no shortage of jobs that need to be done, but if we are not doing them with the Love of God in our hearts and are not allowing God to guide us it is all in vain. This week I challenge you to search your spiritual heart and ask God to show you if you are a Mary or a Martha I will be doing the same. RECOMMENDED READING LUKE 10; 38-42
