Remember: Worries Don't Add to Your Life

God's Word says we can't add a single moment to our lives by worrying. He has plans to prosper us, not to harm us. Instead of worrying, Jesus instructs us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and everything else will be added to us. In other words, He promises to take care of our needs.

We can cast our burdens on the Lord and trust Him to sustain us. As followers of Jesus, we can live fully dependent on Him. On the days when worry tries to consume us, what a gift it is to collapse into the arms of the Father.

Reflection: Are worries driving your overthinking? How will these verses help change those thought patterns?

Day 3

James 2:17

Real faith doesn’t stay theoretical. Scripture teaches that faith without works is dead—not because actions earn God’s love, but because living faith expresses itself through obedient steps. In the sermon, the picture was simple: if you truly trust something, you act accordingly; trust always moves your feet.

Many people admire Jesus—His teachings, compassion, and influence—but Jesus never invited people to admire Him from a distance. He calls us to follow, which means aligning our decisions, habits, and relationships with His voice. This is where spiritual growth often happens: not when life is easy, but when obedience costs comfort.

Today is about closing the gap between what you say you believe and what you practice. Pick one area where you’ve been stuck—service, forgiveness, generosity, sharing your faith, or joining community—and take a small, tangible action. God often multiplies willingness more than talent.

Where is there a gap between what you believe about Jesus and what you’re currently practicing?

Which step have you delayed the longest: forgiving someone, serving, joining a group, giving, or sharing your faith?

What is one small action that would turn your belief into movement today?

What excuse do you most often use, and what might God be inviting you to do instead?

Make a plan: choose a time today to take your action step and write it down.

Day 2

Luke 5:4-5

Jesus’ instruction to Peter didn’t match Peter’s experience. After a night of catching nothing, launching into deeper water sounded inefficient, maybe even foolish. Yet Peter’s response reveals the turning point of discipleship: “Nevertheless, at Your word…”—a decision to trust Jesus above his own expertise and disappointment.

Following Jesus means learning that faith begins where certainty ends. God does not always explain everything before He asks us to obey, and that can feel unsettling—especially when we’re used to controlling outcomes. But obedience isn’t about having all the details; it’s about believing the One who speaks is good, wise, and present.

Today, consider the “next step” Jesus may be asking of you—something practical that feels difficult or unclear. Trust is not just a feeling; it becomes visible in movement. When you act on Jesus’ word, you place yourself where God can work in ways your experience could not produce.

What “deep water” instruction from God feels unreasonable or risky to you right now?

Where are you tempted to trust your experience more than Jesus’ word?

What is one concrete next step of obedience you can take in the next 24 hours?

Name one fear that rises up when you think about obeying—then bring it to God in prayer.

Who can you ask to pray with you and follow up on your next step this week?
