The late Bishop Mattie Moss-Ramsey was led by the power of God to come to North Montgomery to "Work for Him". In 1940, she started out on that mission and God worked in a mighty way out of a store front on North Decatur Street, for there is where the Lord said for her to come. She labored with Mother Emma Flemmings and others for many years until the Lord blessed her and the members to build a chu

rch in 1960 that now stands on Drivers Row. While laboring here in Montgomery, she was also laboring in Selma, Alabama, where she lived with her husband and children. She and a few members in Selma built a church in 1950 that now stands on Lawrence Street. Bishop Mattie Moss-Ramsey was a woman among women and men; a woman of God and her work is still speaking for her. She laid down her bible and went to rest in 1965. She left a good example for all that are here today. Mattie Moss-Ramsey is the the Mother of the late Mattie Moss-Clark and the grandmother of the Clark Sisters.
