Exciting news at The Selma Temple!
Temple Mishkan Israel has been awarded a $75,000 Education Trust Fund Historic Sites Grant from the Alabama Historical Commission.
This investment will support the next phase of preserving our historic building, helping us welcome visitors and share the story of Jewish life in Selma through education, community engagement, and cultural programming.
We are grateful to the Alabama Historical Commission and the Alabama Legislature for their commitment to protecting Alabama's historic places and investing in communities across our state. We look forward to sharing updates as this project moves forward!
This grant is an important step, but there's more work ahead. Please consider making a gift to help preserve The Selma Temple.

Temple Mishkan Israel had a wonderful visit from Cultural Leadership/Lead STL from St. Louis on June 12th. The 10th & 11th graders were attentive and inquisitive as they heard stories from Joyce O'Neal and Hanna! We worked with Kelly Laura on their visit to Selma. They spent 2 nights in Selma and had 3 meals here which is what we hope all groups will do when they visit Selma. We were really glad to make their Selma experience great!! They plan to be back!!

Temple Mishkan Israel had a wonderful visit from students from the Carolina Friends School in Durham, NC. They were engaging and listened intently to Joyce O'Neal of Brown Chapel and Hanna from TMI talk about their Selma experiences. Thank you Kate and Anthony for visiting Temple Mishkan Israel!! We look forward to your next visit!!

Temple Mishkan Israel had a wonderful visit from students from Tucson Hebrew Academy on May 11. They enjoyed hearing Hanna talk about Selma s Jewish community and was treated to a special presentation from one of Selma's most interesting Foot Soldiers in Diane Harris. Thank you Diane for inspiring these visitors! A great visit to the Temple!!!

What a great visit for Hanna and myself with Rabbi Dan, his wife Janet and his niece Wendy. Rabbi Dan was riding his bicycle through the South learning about Southern Jewish history and civil rights history. They were a delight to visit with!!

So glad that Terry Chestnut brought the students and adults from Bornblum Jewish Community School Memphis, TN. to Temple Mishkan Israel for a visit. Great conversations with the students and adults. Hope the school will come back for a visit.

So happy to have Mindy and Michael visit Temple Mishkan Israel on April 14th from Palm Beach, FL. We spent about an hour and a half with great conversations. Thank you both for taking the time to visit Temple Mishkan Israel.

Better late than never but a wonderful Seder service with Hanna, Barbara, Patti and Petey!!! Although Petey was not interested in reading. Barbara, as always, prepared a wonderful Passover feast!!
