Last Sunday, Pastor Gary L. Crum Sr. preached from Joseph’s journey in Genesis 37:1–11 and reminded us that the road to destiny is not always a straight line. Sometimes God allows an unexpected detour—not to abandon us, but to mature us, equip us, and prepare us for what He has waiting ahead.

Joseph faced rejection, the pit, slavery, false accusation, and prison before stepping into his purpose. Every stop looked like a setback, but every stop was part of the process. Like a butterfly whose wings are strengthened by the struggle of breaking through its cocoon, some strength can only be developed by pressing through. No struggle, no flight.

If life has taken you off the route you planned, don’t give up. The detour may still be part of God’s design. Stop worrying and start worshiping—God is preparing you for your future.

Last Sunday, Pastor Crum came back from his break with a word for everybody carrying something heavy: "Bearing Your Crosses and Your Losses." Suffering is not an interruption to the Christian life — it's an ingredient of it (Philippians 1:29). Rejection is never personal — it's spiritual (John 15:18). And heaven calls blessed the very people the world calls burdened (Matthew 5:10). His landing line said it all: following Jesus will always cost you something — but it will never cost you more than it's worth. No cross, no crown.

LAST SUNDAY at Ellwood, Pastor Gary L. Crum Sr. taught "God's Got You Covered" from Psalm 32:1-5. He opened with the story of a driver who wrecked on a rain-slick road and was pulled from the water by a stranger he never saw again — and whose only testimony afterward was, "somebody covered me when I couldn't cover myself." From there he walked David's psalm in three movements: God covers our corruption — transgression means I saw the line clearly and crossed it anyway, and God's covering isn't cosmetic, it's a remedy. God cancels our condemnation — "imputed" is courtroom language, and the Judge read every line of the file and stamped it NOT IMPUTED. And God calms our conscience — because some people are forgiven but still not free. "The accuser may come with receipts, but God comes with redemption." When heaven says case dismissed, there's nothing left for hell to say.
