Resources for Our Community ❤️

With so many people in need right now, we want to make sure our community knows about the resources available through Edgerton United Methodist Church.

❤️ Food Pantry – Helping provide food and groceries to individuals and families in need. 1st & 3rd Thursdays each month from 830AM - 11AM

👕 Children’s Clothing Closet – Providing gently used clothing for children in our community. By appointment, please text.

🍝 SPAGHETTI LUNCH & DINNER — COME HUNGRY, LEAVE BLESSED! ❤️

Join us Wednesday, September 9th for a delicious Spaghetti Lunch & Dinner benefiting Serve the Need in Johnston County NC and Edgerton Memorial United Methodist Church!

For just $10, you’ll enjoy a great meal while supporting two organizations committed to serving others in our community. It’s an easy way to make a difference—one plate at a time!

🍝 LUNCH — TAKE-OUT
11:30 AM–1:00 PM

🍝 DINNER — EAT-IN
5:00–7:00 PM

🎟️ Tickets are $10 each and are available in the church office Monday–Thursday, 9:00 AM–11:30 AM. 401W. Anderson St. | Selma

❤️ WE NEED YOUR HELP!

You can support the event beyond buying a ticket! Donations are needed for:

12 oz cans of soda — all varieties
16 oz bottled water
Large containers of olive oil
Large boxes of regular spaghetti noodles
Large spaghetti sauces
Texas toast
Individually wrapped desserts — cookies, brownies, pound cake
Basil, oregano & parsley

🙌 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We’re looking for helping hands to greet guests, prepare plates, and help with cleanup. Every volunteer makes a difference!

Come for the spaghetti. Stay for the fellowship. Give because you care. ❤️

Who Do You Say That I Am?

This week we have read in Matthew 16:13-20 that Jesus asked his disciples:

“Who do you say that I am?”

It’s a question that has echoed through generations, and today, Jesus asks it of us.

Not: “What does everyone else say?”

Not: “What have you heard?”

Not: “What does your neighbor believe?”

But: “Who do YOU say that I am?”

Peter answered: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
That confession became a turning point.

Because when we recognize who Jesus is, we begin to understand who we are called to be.

Our answer shapes our priorities. Our choices. Our relationships. Our hope. Our willingness to follow.

Today, don't just listen to Peter's answer, consider your own.
Who do you say Jesus is?

Come ready to listen. Come ready to reflect. Come ready to answer.

Tomorrow we’ll hear Jesus ask his disciples one of the most important questions in Scripture:

“Who do you say that I am?”

Before worship tomorrow, take a few quiet moments with that question.

Don't answer with what someone else would say.
Don't answer with what you think you're supposed to say.

Answer honestly.

Who is Jesus to you?
The One you turn to when you're afraid?
The One who gives you hope?
The One who forgives?
The One who calls you to something greater?
The One you are still learning to trust?
The Messiah?
The Son of the living God?

Tomorrow, we’ll gather around that question together.

Jesus, help us see you clearly and give us courage to name who you are. Amen.
