The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This month falls within the liturgical season of Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical color green. This symbol of hope is the color of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. It is used in the offices and Masses of Ordinary Time. The last portion of the liturgical year represents the time of our pilgrimage to heaven during which we hope for reward.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart is a wonderful historical expression of the Church's piety for Christ, her Spouse and Lord: it calls for a fundamental attitude of conversion and reparation, of love and gratitude, apostolic commitment and dedication to Christ and his saving work.

Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus are numerous. Some have been explicitly approved and frequently recommended by the Apostolic See. Among these, mention should be made of the following:
Personal Consecration
Family Consecration
Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart
The Practice of the First Fridays

Twelve Promises of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary
In the apparitions to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus gives these twelve promises for those who are devoted to His Sacred Heart.

1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
2. I will establish peace in their families.
3. I will console them in all their troubles.
4. They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of their death.
5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source of an infinite ocean of mercy.
7. Tepid souls shall become fervent.
8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.
9. I will bless the homes where an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored.
10. I will give to priests the power of touching the most hardened hearts.
11. Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
12. The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments; My heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.

Trinity Sunday

From the Athanasian Creed: “We worship one God in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity; Neither confusing the Persons, / nor dividing the Substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, / another of the Holy Ghost; But the Godhead of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is all one, / the glory equal, the majesty co-eternal.”

On the Sunday after Pentecost, the church devotes its attention to the mysteries of the Trinity. In both the Old and New Testaments, God reveals that he is One God in three persons and throughout Scripture we are given insights into the eternal relationship of love within the Godhead. Christians since the 1st century have marveled at this intricate revelation and have carefully defined what Scripture says about this loving God we worship. In the Nicene Creed, the word ‘Trinity’ is used to describe God’s revelation of himself and, later, the much longer Athanasian Creed was written to elaborate on the truths defined by the Nicene Creed. In many churches, the Athanasian Creed is read or sung in the Sunday liturgy as an act of praise and recognition of the profound and glorious nature of the God we serve.

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

As we continue to celebrate the Feast of the Visitation, let us take a moment to reflect on one small phrase in Luke’s Gospel: Mary “went in haste” to Elizabeth. Where in our lives do we hesitate instead of making haste? How can we learn from Mary? Ms. Olivia Wills Kane, Ministry Coordinator of the Visitation Salesian Network of Schools shares her Salesian Reflection in this week's DeSales Weekly https://www.oblates.org/reflections/go-in-haste

“Take no pains to construct your letters carefully… I am not looking for the language of angels, but for the language of love.” — St. Francis de Sales

"Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together."

"Magnifica Humanitas," Pope Leo XIV's first encyclical, signed May 15, 2026, has been officially released.

The lengthy and wide-ranging papal document is divided into five chapters and touches on wide ranging issues related to AI, including the prospect of massive unemployment, the future of education, the protection of human freedom, excessive screen time for young people, cryptocurrencies, economic disparities, transhumanism, cyberattacks and the application of Catholic Social Doctrine principles.

“He will teach you all things.” John 14:26b

Pentecost

Pentecost is the name used by Greek-speaking Jews for the Jewish feast of Shavuot. It is a festival of first fruits, when God is given an offering from the land’s early produce. Ancient Jewish tradition connected this feast with the giving of the Torah to Moses on Mt. Siniai. Its name, “Pentecost,” refers to its placement on the calendar - fifty days after Passover - and it is now associated with the Christian feast commemorating the coming of the Holy Spirit. After Christ’s ascension into heaven, his disciples met in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. While they were together, the sound of a rushing wind filled the room and the Holy Spirit fell upon all, manifesting in flames of fire. The disciples began speaking in the languages of the Gentile nations and they were empowered to fulfill Jesus’ final command to “go into all of the world, baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Fifty days earlier, Jesus had promised that he would ask the Father to send the Helper (the Holy Spirit) who would be with them forever. Now, in the presence of all, this promise was fulfilled.

The cultural chaos following the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in AD 70 led to conflicting traditions in how to calculate Passover. Today, Western Pentecost, Eastern Pentecost, and Jewish Shavuot all fall on different days. This reminds us to pray that through the Holy Spirit’s power, all of his people will be fully unified in his truth and love.

Almighty God, on this day, through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, you revealed the way of eternal life to every race and nation: Pour out this gift anew, that by the preaching of the Gospel your salvation may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

40 days after Easter Day, the church observes Ascension Day, in recognition of the astonishing moment when the resurrected Christ ascended, body and soul, into heaven. After his resurrection, Jesus remained with his disciples for 40 days. Over these five and a half weeks, over 500 people witnessed the resurrected Christ. Jesus’ death had been publicly confirmed and now he was publicly confirmed as alive. The resurrected Messiah fellowshipped with, taught, and ministered to his disciples, and even cooked for them and ate with them. For the remainder of the 1st century, these 500+ witnesses’ stories were cross-examined and investigated by skeptics and proven true time and time again and the Gospel spread with new generations of converts convinced that Jesus Christ was the living God.

At the culmination of these 40 days, Jesus lifted up his hands and blessed his disciples and was suddenly “taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.” (Acts 1:9) Yet Jesus had not abandoned his disciples. “I am with you always,” (Matthew 28:20) Jesus said in one of his final teachings. And so he is. Jesus is the true vine (John 15:1) and all who are in Christ are grafted into him (Romans 11:17). He is present in his body and his blood, giving us life and love, wisdom and truth. He continues to minister to us today as we await his coming again in great glory and power at the very end of the age.

Almighty God, whose only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven: May our hearts and minds also there ascend, and with him continually dwell; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Today, we say thank you.

For the work you do, day in and day out.
For the steadiness, the patience, and the care you give, even when it goes unnoticed.
For every woman who mothers, in families, in friendships, in quiet, everyday ways.
And we’re grateful for the example of Mary, our Mother, who shows us what faithful love looks like.

We don’t always say it, but we are always grateful.

Happy Mother’s Day 💐
