Homemade breakfast taquitos, tamales and award-winning Chicklett Chili are on the menu tomorrow morning for fellowship, along with our usual breakfast items. Sunday School starts at 8:30 am and Worship with Holy Communion is at 9:30 am. Fellowship meal is ready at 8:00 am. All are welcome!

On Sunday, August 23, we welcomed Debbie Cottrell, president of Texas Lutheran University, here in Seguin. She visited with folks form the church and shared updates about our local, Lutheran University. This was her first time to visit at Christ Lutheran Church Elm Creek. Blessing of Students and their backpacks. Our joyful, annual tradition continued this month on Sunday, August 16. Many of our youth participated. Each received a Bible verse backpack tag, as shown in the photos. We prayed for the students and all involved in their learning.

There are a few of the Bible verse tags left as of today, August 26. Whatever remains on this Sunday is fully available for adults or youth who wish to have one.

The Bible Verse this year is: "Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." from Philippians 4:8

SCAM ALERT!

Dear Friends. In the past hour various people from our church in Texas have been contacted by a strange number. The person sending the text message claims to be me. It is not me. It is not coming from my number, but they do a good job of faking like they are me.

This is totally a scam.

If anybody contacts you about this, please assure them that this is not from me.

It is always best to contact me through the means already noted previously.

This happened to people from my previous church context just a week ago. The scammers approached people by text in my name there as well. It happens to every pastor I know. The bad people prey on the goodwill of pastors and congregations.

Tomorrow/Sunday, August 16, is the day for the blessing of students and their backpacks. All students of any age or school context are invited to participate. Worship is at 930 am. No backpack is required to participate.

Blessing of Students and their Backpacks

Sunday, August 16 during the 9:30 a.m. Worship Service

As the new school year begins, we are inviting students of all ages from any type of school context to attend worship on August 16. During the Youth Message at worship we will offer a prayer of blessing for the students and their backpacks. Students participating will also receive a backpack tag such as we have done in recent years.

This is always such a joyful Sunday. Plan now to be at worship on this special day.
