Good Morning Church and friends. Last Sunday, October 25, the last Sunday of the month, we took a special offering (in addition to our regular offering) for Christmas in October. An offering to support our Missions workers with a special gift for Christmas. We had an attendance of 24 but received an offering of $288. We will send $300. I am so proud of you guys and your willingness to support our Church and its projects financially. 2 Corinthians 9:7 (esv) "Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

Good Morning Church and friends. My biology professor at Gorham State College (staying on the skin theme) once said, "Isn't it wonderful how Mother Nature put the body together." Everything has to work together or it doesn't work at all, making the theory of evolution virtually impossible. Plus, adding to that, that (how's that for wordage) male and female would have to evolve equally together or there is no next person. Only a arrogant person can believe in evolution instead of creation. Creation involves a creator. Romans 1:19,20 (esv) "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."

Good Morning Church and friends. Good report from the skin doctor, all clear for another six months. Skin, the largest organ in the body, has some amazing qualities, especially its restorative qualities. How often have you cut yourself, yet in a few days it is healed as good as new, except for perhaps a scar as a reminder of the wound. I have a small scar on my hand where a lobster got me and a larger scar from sliding into home plate, plus a few more significant scars after my kidney removal surgery. One of my favorite skin (often called flesh in the bible) verses is Job 19: 25,26" For I know that my redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth, and after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold , and not another, my heart faints within me!" Job is considered to be the earliest recorded scripture, which makes these verses all the more wonderful.

Good Morning Church and friends. Headed to my skin doctor for 9:30 appointment. I've already had two malignant spots removed the last few years. One just below the jaw line and one on top of my head, so I have to go back every 3-6 months to make sure nothing else pops up. Skin is amazing. It is the largest organ in the body making up roughly 15-16 percent of your total body weight. According to scripture it can be the source of alot of our temptation to sin. When the disciples kept falling asleep as Jesus went off to pray in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus issued them this warning. Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Good Morning Church and friends. A little late this morning but actually slept some last night. Yesterday's funeral (today called celebration of life) service for Rev. Butch Jerrill was well attended. Butch was beloved and I think almost every pastor in the Florida conference was able to attend. Unfortunately funerals are one of the times when old friends gather together and it was good to see old friends. Pat has known Butch from her teen years when he pastored the Waycross Church a while as well as he served several other churches. I've only gotten to know him since we moved here to Seffner and meet with the pastors in our conference. For those of you who knew Butch you know what I mean when I say he was a big man with a big heart and a big smile. He will be missed. 2 Timothy 4:7,8 is a perfect scripture for Butch. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will reward me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing."

Good morning church and friends. We are headed to Jacksonville to attend the funeral for Rev. Butch Jerrill tomorrow morning. Butch was a fun guy who loved the Lord and his death came rather suddenly. I will miss him. Revelation 14:13 "And I heard a voice from heaven saying, ""Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on, yes, says the Spirit, so that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds will follow them."

Good morning church and friends. It was quite a weekend for sports fans. A lot of college football rivalries with several major upsets. (Auburn beat #1 Georgia for the first time in 9 years.), NFL games, Woman's basketball championship series, the beginning of the National Hockey League, (Tampa Bay Lightning are big here), and Major League baseball playoffs to make the World Series. (The Rays made it). It was a virtual smorgasbord of games to watch. The two sports that the Apostle Paul uses as illustrations are foot races and wrestling. Sports Champions on Earth are temporary. They crown a new champion every year. Paul encourages us to win a crown that never fades or ends.1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIVr) "all who take part in the games train hard. They do it to get a crown that will not last. But we do it to get a crown that will last forever."

Good Morning Church and friends. Yesterday was our annual Homecoming service. This is the 124th year of continuous services as a church that can be confirmed. The Church has relocated a couple of times. We are looking forward to next years milestone service. We had 39 in attendance, with a new couple who saw a post one of our people put on a neighborhood site. They stayed for dinner. It was also encouraging to see a few faces who haven't been able to come lately. God is good. Homecoming is all about gathering and God knowing us by name. Zaccheus, Mary Magdeline at the empty tomb and Peter's reassurance after the resurrection are perfect examples. Insert your name for Jacob and Israel to make Isaiah 43:1 (esv) more personal. "But now thus says the Lord, ""he who created you O Gary (Jacob), he who formed you, O Gary (Israel): fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.""

Good Morning Church and friends. Watching the baseball playoffs this year it is pretty obvious that good pitching will beat good hitting almost every time. The combination of a fastball near 100 mph, a breaking pitch and change up leaves even the best of hitters flailing away at pitches that are often out of the strike zone. But the glory fades quickly. You hardly ever see a pitcher pitch a complete game anymore and a pitcher's career does not last very long. Unlike the Glory of God, which never fades and even grows greater in the persons life that is devoted to following Jesus. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (niv)"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory which comes from the Lord.

Good Morning Church and friends. Had a good doctor's visit. Blood sugar and blood pressure doing well and we changed a medication. I thank God and hopefully things will improve. I often feel bad in complaining about my health when Oh so many people in the world and several in our church have it so much worse. But it is my situation. I thank God that there is no situation that is too difficult or too insignificant that God can not handle or does not care. Every individual is important to Him and he cares for us as individuals. He is nor respecter of persons. Acts 10:34,35 records Peter learning that lesson. "I now truly understand that God shows no favoritism. But in every nation, the one who fears Him and does what is right is aceptable to Him."
