Ryan Hudnall, Executive Director of Della Lamb, is walking 300 miles to raise awareness and invite others into the work of welcome. When he arrives in Sedalia, he will have completed the first 100 miles of his journey!

What a night at First Church! More than 125 people came together Sunday evening for our Hymn Sing, Ice Cream Supper, and Blessing of the Bikes!

We’re not sure who had more fun, the kids riding bicycles and scooters or those watching them learn to navigate an obstacle course of orange cones and a ramp! There were smiles, laughter, a little careful maneuvering, and plenty of cheering.

And the blessings didn’t stop with bicycles! We blessed motorcycles and motor bikes of all sizes, car keys and the drivers who carry them, and even those who use walkers because they have wheels too! It was a wonderful reminder that wherever the road takes us and however we get there, we can ask for God’s blessing, protection, and presence along the way.

We are so thankful for everyone who helped make the evening possible: those who led us in worship, prepared the yummy food, served our guests, and created a phenomenal obstacle course for our kiddos. This is what community looks like: worshiping, laughing, eating, serving, and simply enjoying being together.

Look for more great nights like this in the future. It’s good to come together. It’s good to laugh together. And it’s good to be reminded that there is a place for everyone in community at First Church.

Last week, First Church (more than are shown in the photos) had the privilege of serving dinner to more than 100 Smith-Cotton student athletes and their coaches! It was a great night of encouraging students, caring for our community, and showing some love to young people who mean so much to us.

And we’d love to do more of this!

If YOUR STUDENT is part of a team, club, or school organization that First Church could encourage or support in some way, we want to hear about it. Contact Aisea through the First Church office at 660.827.2993.

This is just one of the ways we live out our vision at First Church:

Sometimes loving our community looks like a big ministry project. And sometimes it looks like a plate of spaghetti, a room full of students, and a church saying, “We see you. We’re proud of you. And we’re cheering you on!”

Our ERT team is heading to Indiana, putting the mission of First Church into action: Leading people to an active faith in Jesus Christ. Active faith shows up, serves, listens, works, and brings hope when people need it most.

We are praying for safe travels, strength for the work ahead, and meaningful connections with every person they meet. May God use their hands, words, and presence to remind people that they are seen, loved, and not alone.
