Join us this Sunday for Camp Sunday! We will be celebrating our children and youth as they prepare for camp this Summer at Camp Kum-Ba-Ya! We will have a special camp themed sermon and worship. We will also have a commissioning service for the kids and will be taking up a love offering for Camp KBY. We want to encourage everyone to dress down this Sunday and wear something that you would wear to go camping!

Has today been one of the best days in recent memory?

Has today been one of the worst days?

Left the house for work and left your coffee on the counter?

Hit every green light on your way home from an outing?

Annoyed with people, places and things?

Happy for a desirable outcome in a particular situation?

In all of these circumstances/events have you given thanks? We are reminded in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 - “Be thankful in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ.”

This verse should be a guiding light in our daily lives. This verse calls us to be thankful in every situation. The word “every” means just that. It includes all without room for exception. God is encouraging us to look through the lens of gratitude in all of life’s journeys.

We can look back at Psalm 100:4 “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name.” Remembering to give thanks or practice gratitude in all circumstances allows us to remain in God’s presence so that we can better understand and see Gods will in our lives, even if it is not immediately clear what that will may be. Gratitude is contagious. When things seem chaotic and others are watching; if you remain cool, calm and collected, relying on God to show you the way through, those watching are inspired and transformed. Maybe not every one of them. Maybe only one of them. That one can open the door for many others. It’s a domino effect.

I pulled this verse from my jar that we made and filled at the ladies lunch the other day. I believe I was meant to see this for a reason. Our oldest has a situation she is going through and she has even mentioned that her walk with God is not what it should be. I am going to share this with her as well! I feel it was meant for me just as much as her and everyone else.

Lord, when I am having my best day, when I am having my worst day or when I am having any kind of day between; allow me to give You thanks even when it is likely to be given begrudgingly. I know that EVERY situation and circumstance I am brought to and through, You are already there. May I remember that and find You in the light and in the dark. Amen

We had a great time at our Ladies Luncheon! Our ladies had great food, fellowship, and a great craft!

Romans 10:9 “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Have you ever stopped to really think about what the road to salvation really looks like? This verse is a core belief and value in the Christian faith. Confession and belief. When we confess with our mouths and have belief in our hearts are instrumental to our salvation.

Today, we are renewed in genuine faith. While Romans 10:9 commands us to confess and believe, in John 3:16 we are reminded of God’s love and His want for us to all have eternal life through faith in His Son.

Today I encourage you to take a few minutes and search your heart. I encourage you to reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ. Lastly I encourage you to pray for those who have not come to know Jesus.

Lord, today I ask for boldness in my confession of faith in Jesus Christ. I ask that my faith be strengthened in Jesus' resurrection and promises. I ask that those who do not yet know Christ will come to know Him and experience salvation. I thank you for Your Son, Jesus Christ who brought with him the gift of salvation. Allow me to continue confessing with my oath and believing in my heart so that I can experience the fullness of life in Christ. Amen

Rugged Disciples: Book of James

Scripture: James 2

“Treat everyone as you want to be treated.” Man that phrase sounds good doesn’t it? We hear it so often as children. When you’re in Kindergarten and the world is simpler; it’s a lot easier to put into practice. Partiality is something we do a churches, as believers, far more than we realize.

James speaks here about when a rich person vs a poor person comes into a congregation, the rich person is often treated better. We still do this today! When a person walks in and is well dressed, we warmly greet them, we show them around the church, introduce them to the pastor. The person who walks in with dirty worn clothes is often an after thought. They don’t get greeted, they don’t get shown around. In the eyes of society; they have nothing to contribute only the ability to take.

James says if you love your neighbor you will do well, but if you are partial are you really loving your neighbor? He says when we break the law even in the slightest we have broken the entire law and will be held accountable. We have; however, been shown mercy so we should show mercy.

Then comes the faith vs works passages. People get caught up in faith vs works; so much that they miss the point of the passage! James is not saying works alone can save you. James is saying if you claim faith but don’t love your neighbor or clothe the naked or feed the hungry or care for the widows and orphans; do you really have faith or are you fooling yourself? True genuine faith expresses itself in works. Works should be the litmus test for us as believers; showing us the condition of our faith.

This week: think about your neighbor. Is there a need you could fill for your neighbor but have been putting off or ignoring? How can you feed or clothe or help those in your community.

Oh man! What a day it has been! It is Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 8:30 PM and I have just walked in the door from work. I immediately sat down to write this and had nothing particular that was on my heart. Then I open the Bible App and the verse of the day is this:

”Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” - John 8:12

Long story short, with my career, I probably see the darkness in this world more than the average person. Today was definitely one of those days where seeing the light in the darkness was nearly impossible.

It was not accidental that Jesus delivered these words while at the temple at the Feast of Tabernacle. The Feast of Tabernacle is a celebration that is permeated with symbols of light. Jesus affirms Himself not as one light in the midst of many, but THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!

Light adjusts how we see everything. Light is not just an additive, it is life-changing. Light can be both comforting and confronting. Comforting in that we know the truth that we are deeply loved and there is no amount of darkness that can overshadow the Light that is Jesus. Confronting in that our shadows where we hide are more exposed.

Following the Light of the World is not just a one-time thing; it is an every day event. When we wake up every day, we have a choice, to either walk in our shadows or let Christ lead the way. Some days it can be as simple as a small act of forgiveness, while other days we are walking in a direction we thought we left behind.

Lord, I am so thankful for Your Son, Jesus, our Light. On the easy days let the Light guide me. One the hard days when the darkness wants to win, allow the Light to shine even brighter. Amen

Our God is So intentional!!👇

Did you know Jacob was buried with Leah, not Rachel?

Not the woman he loved.

Not the one he cried for.

Not the one he labored fourteen years to have.

Leah.

In Genesis 49:29–31, when Jacob was about to die, he gave a clear instruction:

“Bury me… in the cave… where Abraham and Sarah are… Isaac and Rebekah… and there I buried Leah.”

Pause.

Rachel was his passion.

Leah was his alignment.

Rachel was the love story.

Leah was the covenant story.

Rachel had his emotions.

Leah carried the promise.

Rachel was buried on the roadside (Genesis 35:19).

Leah was laid in the ancestral grave of covenant—the lineage of God’s dealings.

And here is the mystery:

Leah was the rejected one.

The one Jacob didn’t choose.

The one he endured, not desired.

But heaven chose her.

From Leah came Judah.

From Judah came Jesus Christ.

Let that settle in your spirit—

The woman rejected by a man

became central to God’s redemptive plan.

This is where many people miss it:

We are all trying to be “Rachel”—

seen, desired, celebrated.

But God builds legacy through “Leah seasons”—

hidden places, painful processes, quiet obedience.

Jacob’s final decision was not emotional—

it was spiritual alignment.

At the end of his life,

he didn’t choose love…

he chose covenant.

And that is the gospel pattern:

God does not build His purposes on human preference.

He builds on grace and election.

So if you feel overlooked…

if you feel like second choice…

if life has not chosen you first—

hear this clearly:

God’s choice overrides man’s rejection.

You may not be preferred by people,

but you can be positioned by God.

And when God positions a man,

history is rewritten.

Because in God’s hands,

the rejected become vessels,

the unseen become pillars,

and the overlooked become eternal significance.

If you are in your Leah season—

you are not losing.

You are being written into something bigger.

AMEN

I do not have a mini devotional ready for today. However the Bible App has the verse of the day as John 1:12 and I have found a pretty nice little mini devotional online for it.

In the profound depths of the first chapter of the Gospel of John, verse 12 encapsulates a core tenet of Christian faith: **"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."** This verse speaks volumes about identity, acceptance, a...

Rugged Disciples: Book of James

Starting this week we are going to take a look at the book of James. James is a practical look into our theology as Christian’s.

Scripture: James 1: 1 - 27

To pull back the curtain a little bit, I’ll tell you something about me. Despite the rugged outdoorsy exterior, I am a little nerdy. I am a writer by nature despite being a terrible speller (thank the Lord for autocorrect) but I discovered in college that I love writing and professionally wrote a lot of youth ministry articles and blog posts. I also loved theology in college. The abstractness of theology was awesome to me. A lot of times the thought of something for me was often more attractive than the doing of said thought.

Our faith can be like that. The thought of our faith, the mechanics behind it, often are far more attractive than putting our faith into action, where the rubber meets the road. The Book of James is the practical application of the theology, the mechanics of our faith. It steps on our toes and makes us uncomfortable because it holds us accountable to put our faith into action, and that’s oh so messy at times.

As we journey through the book, it’s my prayer that if makes you pause and think about how much skin in the game you have with your faith. If it’s not much, and your faith is more theoretical than practical, I pray you let it challenge you and direct you to put your faith into action.
