Never think that our weekly prayer requests are routine. And our shared joys are never trivial. They matter. “Is anyone in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise…the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:13,16b

Keep praying and rejoicing!

What do you need?
Wouldn’t it be nice if it was as simple as pulling of a strip of paper and putting it in your pocket? If all you had to do was go down to the community board at the local post office and pull off the tab you need? Well, it is that easy and you don’t even need to go to the post office! Jesus has what what you need, wherever and whenever you need it, with no pull tabs required.

“My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

“Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him.” 2 Peter 1:3

We made it…
…through 2024 and we’ll make it through 2025! Of that I am sure! I do have a few questions about the details, but I am trusting in the one who loves us, holds us tight, and will continue to guide us through whatever lies ahead. So my prayer for us this year is that…
…the incomprehensible peace of God be ours when anxiety hit hard.
…the joy of the Lord will settle deep in our hearts in the midst of sorrow.
…we always trust in God’s never failing love.
Amen!

On Sunday during Joys and Concerns o one shared a joy. Not that we had no joys, but it was a day when we seemed to have the concerns for others on our hearts. One of those concerns expressed several times were for those who were grieving. As these stories shared, I was reminded that grief is really a lifelong process and that we can grieve losses other than a death.

Isaiah 53:3, Jesus is described as “A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.” Jesus knows our sorrows and walks through them with us. Every moment of our grieving. Every moment of our pain. Every moment of every loss.

Sometime in our grief we feel his presence in a real and tangible way. Other times we don’t feel him close. Regardless, Jesus is very close. He is very near. Always. Jesus never leaves us alone especially when we grieve. Not for a single moment. May you find comfort in that.
