Missio Church

Missio Church Missio is a 6 year old church in the Greenwood neighborhood. Our mission is to Love God, Love People, and Awaken a Movement of Jesus. This is not about us.

Our vision for Seattle is to build a
network of churches to help restore the
future of Seattle by planting churches in
multiple neighborhoods to connect
people’s creativity, motivation, and
commitments to the mission of God in the
world. Seattle is naturally formed around
multiple community neighborhoods. We
envision planting expressions of our
church in these various
neighborhoods around Seattle.

We
want to see the city connected
through a network of existing
churches, new churches, missional
communities, non-profits, and other
creative expressions of Jesus’ Church that
will yield an expansive reach throughout
the city. We want to see the future of
Seattle restored into the hands of God. Reveal God so that people may
Love God and live Repurposed
Lives in his kingdom. the MOTIVATION

“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let
your glory be over all the earth.” Ps 108:5. We have no greater motivation in life than to see
God’s glory fill the earth. We regularly pray the Lord’s prayer to remind
ourselves of this. May your Kingdom come. May
your will be done. the MISSION

"Love God, Love People, Awaken a Movement"

Love God:

Jesus made it clear that loving God with all of our hearts, minds, soul, and
strength is our greatest priority. The Northwest is a culture that is skeptical of God and his
kingdom. However, they have a wonderful capacity to love. We believe God is a God who
desperately loves his people. Our mission is to help people experience the Love of God and
reciprocate that love back to him. As a Church we seek to tangibly grow in our love for God in several ways:
•We are committed to gathering to worship corporately every Sunday
•We are committed to worshipping God individually every day
•We are committed to growing corporately and individually in knowledge, faithfulness and
mission
•We are committed to holding each other accountable in love to the ways of Jesus

Love People:

Jesus made it clear that our second greatest priority in life is to love
other people as much as we love ourselves. As a church we seek to tangibly grow in our
love for people in several ways:
•We are committed to building deeper relationships with each other in small groups
•We are committed to serving locally, nationally, and globally
•We are committed to sharing the gospel with those who do not yet love Jesus

Awaken A Movement :

Finally, Jesus made it clear that we are to partner with Him
in making disciples and changing the world. As a church we seek to tangibly awaken
the movement that Jesus began in several ways:
•We are committed to making disciples that make disciples
•We are committed to partnering with Jesus in the restoration of all things
•We are committed to planting churches that plant churches

the FOUNDATION
BELIEFS:

Three Relationships (Isaiah 43; Matt. 22:36-40; 28:18-20):
God both demonstrates and directs a triad relational focus for fullness of life: relationship with
God (UP), fellowship with our spiritual family (IN), and missional interaction with the world
(OUT). Covenant Relationship: (Gen. 15; Luke 22:20)
God invites us into relationship in which we share in his identity and resources. Kingdom Living: (Matt. 5:10; 2 Cor. 5:16-20)
As people sharing our identity with Christ we are compelled to act as representatives and
ambassadors for his Kingdom. Abundant Love!:(Ex. 34; Matt. 22:34-40)! God is in love with us, and this love compels Him to be ever-seeking, abundantly patient,
generous in blessing, and eager to redeem so that we can forever be in relationship with him. VALUES
Prayer (John 17):
We believe prayer activates the spirit to help us know him, access his power, and experience
his peace. This drives us. Simplicity (Matt. 22:36-40; 28:18-20):
Intentional simplicity allows the gospel to present itself in its clearest and most powerful way
to hearts cluttered by life. This drives our church structure. Freedom (Psalm 119; Gal. 5:1; 1 Cor. 10:23):
We believe that God’s instruction is wise, his grace rescues, and his commands are freeing,
gifting us with lives of freedom. This drives our daily living. Creativity!(Heb. 11 & 12; Ex. 35:31-32)!:
God’s limitless creativity is displayed in the world and inherited by us who were made in his
image. We believe in creative design to discover and glorify God and to do good works. This
drives our ministries.

This morning during Sunday worship we commissioned the Missio Prayer Team, a group dedicated to praying for the members of our church as well as our city. Please lift them up in your own prayers, that their work would be blessed.

We’ve shared in some difficult farewells in the last few weeks at Missio, and we feel blessed to have been given the connections that make it so hard to say goodbye.

This , we’re highlighting the work of the Kambakia Training Center in Meru, Kenya. The KTC hosts a local church and the Meru School of Theology, which provides formal training as well as trade skills education, like tailoring and masonry, in order to provide students a means to support themselves.

We’re proud to support the KTC!

At Missio we celebrate Thanksgiving with an annual Friendsgiving brunch! It’s always a wonderful opportunity to spend time together and enjoy one another’s company (and cooking talents!).

Happy Thanksgiving from Missio — whether this is a joyful or difficult season for you. We are grateful for a church community to walk through it with.

If you’re looking for a place to belong or wanting to explore who God is, we’d love for you to visit Missio. You’re always welcome here.

welcomed students back to UW this last week with a ton of opportunities to meet and connect, including a game of kickball, and our Welcome Back worship service on Sunday. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Missio body to connect with these students and support them during the semester.
