Over the summer at Lamb of God we became familiar with praying The Litany as we reflected on the deaths in America due to racism and racial issues. Now we return to it as we process and confront the discord in our society and the events on and following January 6th.
Be gracious to us. Help us, good Lord.
From all sin, from all error, from all evil;
From the crafts and assaults of the devil; from sudden and evil death;
From pestilence and famine; from war and bloodshed; from sedition and from rebellion;
From lightning and tempest; from all calamity by fire and water; and from everlasting death:
Good Lord, deliver us.
There are a lot of voices speaking right now, may ours be marked with peace, repentance, and forgiveness. By the work of our Good Lord in Christ our voices can speak those three things with the confidence of a Hope and the witness of all things being made new.
Over the next few days or even the weeks to come, consider the words we share on social media and the posts we share. Are they words that build or tear down? Do they bring life to this world with Word or do they grow the dimness of this world and nation? Could the time be spent calling or texting someone instead?
