Myrrh: a Christian professional women's luncheon

Myrrh: a Christian professional women's luncheon A Christian Professional Women's luncheon that meets quarterly in the West Conference room of the Columbia Tower in downtown Seattle.

myrrh:
An aromatic resinous exudation from certain plants of the genus Myrrhis, especially M. odorata, a small spiny tree: used for incense, perfume, etc. Myrrh: A Christian Professional Women’s Luncheon. Founded in the late 1990’s by Esther Salomon, a Personnel Analyst for the City of Seattle, it began in the vault conference room located in the basement of the Dexter-Horton Building in downto

wn Seattle as a bible study of twelve ladies and later developed in to an hour of worship, testimony and word over a light lunch with over two hundred in the Dome Room of the Arctic Building. Raised by a single parent and grandmother, my mother had a heart for women who were carrying the load of being the sole providers of their home, raising their children on their own and just trying to manage “life”. Often she found herself encouraging ladies in nearby conference rooms or over lunch, who were struggling emotionally, some diagnosed with life threatening illnesses and battling depression even su***de, and just needing a word of encouragement or prayer to make it through the day. She reiterated to the ladies 2 Corinthians 4:8, that we are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed but not in despair; Persecuted but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. Just like with Myrrh, the tree or shrub when beaten or hard pressed exudes a more excellent fragrant, we too find ourselves in situations that back us against corners or press on every side, yet we can still manage to give God a fragrant praise if we just hold on and hang in! I heard the voice of the Lord tell me to carry on the ministry my late, excellent mother began. The Lord told me his daughters were crying for him throughout the day from the stalls of bathrooms and secluded conference rooms and those cries were like labor pains and as time went by got stronger and more frequent that I begin to feel the call to pick up where my mother left off. I saw a vision like Superman sees through steel, where I saw employees in the normal course of the day walking around the floors, stationed at their desks, sitting in and/or conducting meetings in training rooms some wearing clergy attire. I asked the Lord what does that mean? He said, my sons and daughters minister outside of the walls of the church and so must you. Your going to work every day is more than a paycheck, it’s an opportunity to minister to your employer, coworkers and all the people you come in to contact.
