JAZZ AT MADRONA GRACE presents legendary saxophonist Lonnie Williams and Then & Now – Saturday 11/22 from 7-8:30pm
Friends, Neighbors, Family – all are welcome to our continuing Jazz Concert Series, where this month we are privileged to host the great (and humble) Lonnie Williams and his band, Then & Now, in concert at Madrona Grace Presbyterian Church (832 – 32nd Ave 98122). Get ready for an evening of free-wheeling, spontaneous arrangements of music tailored to this moment and inspired by this audience, performed by all-professional lifetime musicians committed to creating a new, fresh experience every time they play. With Lonnie on saxophone, Steve Nowak on guitar and Patrick McDanel on bass, it will be a musical journey like no other.
Lonnie Williams is a dynamic musician who has graced many stages with his music. With deep roots in blues and jazz, he has played with national acts such as Otis Rush, Floyd Dickson, Albert Collins and Margie Evans. Considered a legend in the Pioneer Square jazz scene, Lonnie Williams has also played with such greats as Eddie Harris and Joe Henderson and in venues all over the world. He has shared the stage with local legends: Isaac Scott, David Brewer and Robert Cray. Lonnie is also a teacher who encourages his students to “practice, practice, practice” and hopes they will find as much joy in the saxophone as he has over the years. He was honored by the Washington Blues Society with their annual Best of the Blues Horn Player Award in 2025.
Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted to support the musicians and this community-building event. Light refreshments will be available throughout the 90-minute concert.
