I read somewhere why inherit curses or punishment. Here is my answer: In ancient times, children were often held accountable for the sins of their forefathers. If a father committed a sin, the consequences fell on the entire household. It became a saying that the fathers sinned, and the children paid the price. But as time went on, God declared that this would no longer be so—each person would bear responsibility for their own sins.
As Christians, we can stand on this truth. Scripture gives us the authority to break inherited curses and enforce the freedom Christ has given us. We may not know the covenants our ancestors made, whether knowingly or unknowingly, but we can often see patterns—both good and bad—running through a family line. Covenants speak across generations, and curses do the same, until someone rises to recognize them, confront them, and break them through the power of God.
It may not be easy, but it is possible to reclaim your destiny through the blood of Jesus Christ, if you believe in the everlasting covenant sealed by His sacrifice.
The Bible says, “The Lord God is the portion of my inheritance.... We are redeemed from the curse of the law....For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.” There are laws—both spiritual and physical—that govern our lives, but in Christ, we are not bound by the old ones that once condemned us.
We may have once stood under judgment because of the sins of our parents, but now that we are in Christ Jesus, there is therefore no condemnation. And Scripture assures us that any tongue that rises against us in judgment, we shall condemn. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, and all things have become new.
Know who you are. Stand in your identity. Reclaim what belongs to you.
May God bless and guide us all!
