What happens when God calls us forward without showing us the whole path? On Sunday, we’ll take a look at Genesis 12:1-9 (CEB), where Abram steps into an unknown future with nothing but God’s promise to guide him. Like a GPS that reveals only the next turn, God often gives us just enough light for the next step. Join Rev. Karen Yokota Love as we explore what it means to trust God’s leading, embrace our calling to be a blessing, and walk by faith even when the road ahead is unclear.

HOLY COMMUNION
Since it is the first Sunday of the month, I have the joy of leading us in Holy Communion. Christ’s table is open to all. If you are worshiping online, please gather whatever elements you have on hand — bread, a tortilla, crackers, cookies, rice, pasta, juice of any kind, or even water. These simple, everyday elements become for us a visible sign of God’s invisible grace. Holy Communion is an invitation to encounter the living Christ through the Spirit, and we trust that the Spirit always makes a way — wherever we are gathered.

I would also encourage you to take a few moments to read through this week’s announcements. They contain important updates, upcoming events, opportunities for service, and ways to connect with our church community. I’d love for you to stay informed and involved in all that’s happening in the life of our congregation. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Grace and peace,
Rev. Karen

The Bible tells us not to worry about “anything.” Instead, we are to pray humbly to God with an attitude of gratitude. Ask God for what you need, and you will find an unbelievable peace in your heart that can come only from Him.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).

To our BYG Leaders — thank you for your faithful leadership in continuing the Easter breakfast and the BYG overnighter (and for all the ways you have continued to show up week after week to lead our youth). You carried responsibility with humility and grace, making sure our youth were cared for, seen and connected. Your leadership mattered deeply.

To the parents who contributed food, time, encouragement and presence — thank you. Your support made ministry possible in very tangible ways. To our youth — thank you for showing up with open hearts. You served, you laughed, you learned and you cared for one another in ways that reflect the best of who we are becoming as a church.

At Blaine, participants engaged in a contemplative stamping process in the Ireicho, marking names as an act of remembrance. The Nishida room grew quiet as each stamp created a moment of recognition.

“Touching the embedded ceramic pieces made from soil collected at 75 incarceration sites across the United States was deeply emotional for me,” says Judy Yasutake. “Seeing the names of family members and reflecting on the needless suffering they endured brought both anger and gratitude. It’s incredible to see the finished book and to feel the care and effort that went into gathering each name.”

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Colossians 3:17)

These words above from the Bible reflect our message to you all. On March 7, 2026 we celebrated the coming of spring with our Annual Sukiyaki Dinner. We challenged the congregation to help meet our ambitious goal of raising $30,000 to benefit the Pacific Northwest Conference Disaster Fund. A portion of the proceeds is earmarked to provide assistance and relief to evacuees and survivors of the winter 2025 flooding in Washington state. The challenge was met, and our gross total reached slightly more than $30,000. What a joyous occasion!

In the weeks ahead, we continue our worship series, listening for God’s voice and growing in discipleship. Small groups remain places of prayer and connection, and we hope to expand these spaces this summer.

We also look forward to serving together through outreach, shared meals and care for our wider community, including the upcoming Walk for Rice.

As June arrives, we shift into summer rhythms — youth gatherings, young adult ministry and intergenerational moments of joy and connection. Summer often opens space for rest, renewal and deeper relationships.

TEAM BLAINE DOES IT AGAIN!!

A huge thank-you to our Team Blaine walkers and the rest of the Blaine community for your amazing support of this year’s ACRS Walk for Rice.

At the closing ceremony, ACRS recognized Team Blaine for placing second among all fundraising teams. At that time, we had raised $18,875. Even better news followed: Team Blaine has continued to raise money since the Walk and is currently in first place.

Check out the latest Sunday Worship Service at blaineonline.org!

The sermon describes the Trinity as “communion” — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit living in perfect relationship. Where in your own life have you experienced the strength, comfort, or beauty of living in community rather than alone?

The disciples in Matthew both worshiped and doubted, yet Jesus still sent them into the world. How does it encourage or challenge you to know that God works through imperfect people with mixed emotions and questions?

In Rev. Karen’s message, she says, “The church is called to reflect the harmony of the Trinity: “diversity without division, unity without sameness.” What would it look like for our congregation, family, or community to live out that kind of loving unity more fully?

Continue having a blessed week!

This week’s sermon, "Created in Communion," will explore how God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit work together in perfect relationship and community. The Trinity reveals a God who is not distant or solitary, but deeply relational — a God whose very nature is love, connection, and mutual care. As people created in God’s image, we are also called into lives of communion, fellowship, and shared purpose.

Whether you are a longtime member or a first-time visitor, we would love to welcome you. Come and experience the joy of worship, the warmth of community, and the wonder of the Triune God.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

The latest Sunday Worship Service is now available at blaineonline.org.

What fears or divisions in our world today prevent people from truly hearing and understanding one another?

How can Christians honor sacrifice and love their country while remaining committed to the gospel’s call to peace and human dignity?

Jesus says, “My peace I give to you — not as the world gives.” What does Christ-like peace look like in a world shaped by conflict, fear, and polarization?
