Shabbat Shlish*t Mizrahi Brinner is FULL!

So many people signed up for a smaller-than-usual Shabbat that we didn't even get to promote it! We're looking forward to seeing y'all at Shabbat, other Jewish events, and our February to-dos!

If you're looking for a Shabbat to attend on Jan 20, moved their Shabbat by a week, and they're delightful. ☺️

Oh, and if you're looking for some cool Jewish learning to do THIS WEEKEND, might I suggest ?

TONIGHT! by Candlelight 🕯️! (Starts 6 PM) Double-Header event at the kibbutz!
By daylight at 6 PM: Spring Greening 🍃 Garden Party & Seder Plate Harvest!

7:30 PM- Imagine: Kibbutz Darom blanketed in darkness. A match strikes and fire ignites on a candlewick. By the light of the flame, we search the house for 10 tufts of bread. Each tuft of bread is swept up using a feather 🪶 (from one of our chickens!) onto a wooden spoon. We say a blessing and eventually burn the 10 pieces of bread! Join us for this most Jewish of scavenger hunts!

This ceremonial search signifies the overall searching for and extinguishing all our chametz (leavened bread) left in the house to begin the holiday of Passover! We hope to see you there!

Spring Greening Garden Party, the first part of the Double-header event) at 6 PM will be a harvest of vegetables (parsley and greens) from our farm that were grown for MOHO Grow Yo' Own Seder Plate! and we will feed you a Garden Party meal too!

Tzedakah, that which has come to mean "charity", comes from the Hebrew word צדק, JUSTICE, RIGHTEOUSNESS. Politics aside, it's just not right to leave people out in the cold with no food, clothing, or basic supplies.

This month, we are collecting supplies and durable goods for Seattle's unhoused population. Our friends at feed and distribute supplies to all in need on Sunday mornings. To support and AMPLIFY that, we are collecting supplies at the Kibbutz. Check out the list in the gallery for things you can bring to our in-person events.

You miss us the past few days? We have a couple weeks off from hosting events, so we decided to tackle some Kibbutz projects: Adam learned to make avgolemono, a Greek Sephardic dish; we hung a killer tapestry in the guest room; and Ilana does it dysentery. Not to worry, though. She had three lives.

CAFE KIBBUTZ HANNUKAH HANGOUT is TOMORROW, SUN., NOV. 28TH, 2 PM-5 PM. Come even if you look like ilana here (after losing a fight against a weighted blanket), WEAR YOUR PAJAMAS or your best Onesie (like Adam's Deadpool number here), and eat homemade LATKAS (see 4th slide) + drink LATTES with us. Eggs are back on the menu at Kibbutz Darom! Korra and BooRadley have started laying medium size cream eggs. They are delicious, and we are so proud 🥲

Want to extend your own congratulations to the little ones? Register to join us for Shabbat Shlish*t next week and say hi to the girls. Also, you're welcome to donate to the WE ARE campaign in their honor. We're trying to teach at least 25 unique donors, so go ahead and donate a couple bawks.
