What a beautiful and meaningful Shavuot weekend for our Sea Shul community.

We began the celebration the evening before with inspiring adult Shavuot learning, gathering together in the spirit of study, reflection, and tradition to mark this special holiday.

Then, at our Shavuot Shabbat service, led by Cantor Daniel Sternlicht, we witnessed a truly historic and moving moment—the handoff of a treasured 100-year-old Torah from Congregation Adath Israel in Montgomery, Alabama, to Sea Shul.

This sacred gift connects generations of Jewish life and ensures that this Torah’s story continues with our growing congregation for years to come. A heartfelt thank you to Esther Scheuer and Herb Scheuer for helping coordinate this meaningful Torah donation.

And because no Shavuot celebration is complete without something sweet, we concluded the weekend with an extraordinary Ice Cream Social—sharing laughter, treats, and community together. 🍦✨

Sea Shul is having a moment… and it’s only getting bigger.

Just a few months into 2026 and look what’s already happening:
✨ 19 events (yes… 19 and counting)
✨ 8 new families joining the community
✨$14,000 raised to fuel what’s next

And zoom out for a second—since this board stepped in September 2025:
✨ 37 events
✨ $41,000 raised (in addition to the generous contribution from the Davis Family Foundation)
✨ 21 new families welcomed

That’s not just growth.
That’s momentum.

Because Sea Shul isn’t just “another synagogue.”
It’s becoming the place people want to be—where Jewish life feels vibrant, social, welcoming, and genuinely fun.

From packed Shabbat dinners…
to Mah Jong mornings…
to unforgettable holiday celebrations…to cultural trips and experiences that bring us beyond our walls…
to rabbi-led learning that sparks connection and meaning…

This is where new friendships are forming—and lasting ones are taking shape.

People aren’t just attending—they’re coming back, bringing friends, and becoming part of something bigger.

And here’s the best part:
We are building this as an inclusive, joyful, open community—where everyone has a seat at the table and a reason to show up.

If you’ve been part of it—you feel it.
If you haven’t yet… you’re going to want in.

Because this isn’t just growth—
this is a community taking off.

And we’re just getting started.

From history to heart, our Sea Shul journey to New Orleans was nothing short of unforgettable.
A soulful exploration of Southern Jewish heritage, layered with culture, connection, and a whole lot of joy.

We laughed, we learned, we ate (very well), and we experienced something truly special—together.

Purim at Sea Shul did not disappoint. 🎭

Between the Megillah reading, a hilarious Purim spiel, and karaoke that got progressively more enthusiastic as the night went on, it was an unforgettable evening.

The costumes were creative, the energy was contagious, and the laughter carried all night long.

Purim joy through the eyes of our youngest Sea Shul members. 🎭

Our Kids Purim Carnival was filled with laughter, creativity, and so much ruach.

The children performed a Purim play, decorated delicious hamentashen, played carnival games, and shared the mitzvah of mishloach manot with friends.

Seeing the story of Purim come alive through their smiles and costumes was truly special.

Last night, the Sea Shul Mensch Club brought the brainpower. 💥

Jewish Jeopardy was fast, funny, and fiercely competitive — with categories that had everyone digging deep into Hebrew school memories and holiday trivia archives.

There were bold answers, confident wagers, and a few “I knew that!” moments shouted just a second too late.

Bragging rights were earned.
Egos were (mostly) intact.
And the Mensches delivered.

Already looking forward to the rematch.

This week’s program reminded us that even in humanity’s darkest chapter, music bore witness.
