Everyone meet Kat, CICs new Director of Children’s Ministry and a staple in our women’s group.

Kat has been coming to CIC for six years. What initially brought her through the doors was her desire to support her brother while he was in the program—a program that, by God’s grace, helped save his life.

But what started as an act of support quickly became something much more meaningful for Kat. She found a place where she could see God moving, experience fellowship like she had never experienced before, and serve the Lord. Most importantly, she found biblical truth being preached and a community she could call home.

Kat met the Lord for the first time when she was 40 years old, and since then, her faith has continued to shape the way she lives and serves. Her favorite way to serve at church is by pouring into children and women—loving, encouraging, and helping others grow in their faith.

If Kat could give one piece of advice to someone new to CIC, it would be simple: “CIC is a safe place to lay at His feet. You are welcomed and loved. Keep coming back!”

Her favorite story from the Bible is the story of the Prodigal Son, a story that beautifully reflects God’s heart for His children and His willingness to welcome us home.

The Bible verse Kat lives by is Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

If she could meet anyone in Heaven besides Jesus, Kat would choose the Apostle Paul. She admires his testimony and dedication to the Kingdom, seeing his life as a picture of how God can and will use any one of us through His grace and mercy, when we respond with faith and obedience.

And if Kat could ask the Lord one question and receive an immediate answer, she knows exactly what she would ask:

“How long will it be before You come to take us home?”

Kat’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes God brings us somewhere for one reason, only to reveal that He has something much greater waiting for us. What began as a journey to support her brother became a place where Kat found fellowship, purpose, service, truth, and ultimately, home.

Meet another beloved part of the CIC family, Kara.

She has been coming to CIC for a little over three years. She first came to the church after meeting her now-husband, who had turned his life around and graduated from the program here. This was the church he attended, and together they found Christ-centered love and comfort in making CIC their home church.

When asked what advice she would give to someone new to CIC, she said, “I know it’s hard to reach out, but there are so many women here who already love you and are waiting for you to come, fellowship, and learn with us about who Jesus is and how to be more like Him.”

She first truly met the Lord when she was 18 years old. For a long time, she thought she was saved because she had a relationship with God and would read her Bible here and there—more often than anyone else around her. She knew the story of Christ, but it wasn’t until one day when she broke down and opened her Bible that everything changed. The Lord led her to read in Matthew about how Christ had died for her sins. She heard a strong, still voice say to her, “How do you think you would get into heaven if you have doubt about this one FACT—that Jesus died and rose again? This is the only way.” At that moment, everything changed. She realized that knowing the story of Jesus wasn’t the same as truly believing in Him. At 18, she fully believed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.

One of her favorite ways to serve is by helping wherever she is needed, from the nursery to the children’s ministry.

There are so many Bible stories she loves, but currently, she is thinking of the story of Ruth.

The Bible verse she lives by is 1 Corinthians 16:14:

“Let all that you do be done in love.”

If she could meet anyone in Heaven besides Jesus, she would choose Job. She said, “I’d love to meet the man he was when God considered him righteous.”

And if she could ask the Lord one question and receive an immediate answer, she would ask, “When are You wrapping this up?” 😄

I loved hearing her heart throughout this conversation. Her story is a beautiful reminder that knowing about God and truly believing in Him are two different things. It’s also a reminder that there is a place for everyone to belong, serve, grow, and learn more about who Jesus is and how we can become more like Him.

John 2:14-16 says “In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.”

The video is funny, but the message of course is so much more. Jesus stood up for his Father, and we should do the same.

Meet Bobbie Sue, an integral part of the CIC family.

Bobbie Sue first started coming to CIC in 2018, when her then-boyfriend, who is now her husband, was serving on the worship team. They stopped coming in 2020 but returned in 2022 when her husband was asked to become a full-time pastor.

Bobbie Sue gave some simple but meaningful advice to anyone new to CIC: “Just keep coming. Even when it’s hard.” She also encourages people to get involved, especially by joining the women’s fellowship on Tuesdays.

She first met the Lord when she was nine years old. Today, one of her favorite ways to serve is by helping wherever she is needed, especially working with the children.

Her favorite Bible story is the parable of the Good Samaritan.

The Bible verse she lives by is Isaiah 42:3
“a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.”

If she could meet anyone in Heaven besides Jesus, she would choose Matthew.

And if she could ask the Lord one question and get an immediate answer, she would ask, “What do You want me to learn from this current season of my life?”

I loved hearing Bobbie Sue’s heart throughout our conversation. Her story is a simple reminder to keep showing up, keep serving, and trust God even when we don’t understand the season we’re in.

Everyone meet Miranda, the President of the women’s group at CIC.

Miranda and her husband first came to CIC in 2018 and attended for a couple of years. After the birth of their first son, they began attending a church closer to home. However, they found themselves longing for the kind of community they had experienced at CIC, and in 2021 they felt led to return. They’ve been faithfully attending ever since.

What keeps her at CIC is the sense of fellowship. Whether it’s a church-wide event, a small group gathering, or simply spending time with fellow believers, she loves that there’s always an opportunity to grow in community and do life alongside others.

Her journey with the Lord has been one of continual growth. As a child, she attended a Pentecostal church with her family and was baptized. After graduating high school, she rededicated her life to Christ, but admits she wasn’t truly following Him. Everything changed in 2018 when she attended a Christian women’s retreat in Texas with her mom. It was there that she was filled with the Holy Spirit. From that moment on, Jesus became more than just her Savior—He became her Lord, her Adonai. She continues to walk with Him daily as He faithfully sanctifies her.

If she could offer one piece of advice to someone new to CIC, it would be to find a community that will speak the truth in love. She believes the enemy does his best work in isolation, and that surrounding yourself with believers who lovingly point you back to God’s Word is one of the greatest blessings you can have.

One of her greatest joys is serving on the worship team. She’s loved to sing since she was little, but it wasn’t until she came to CIC that she felt God calling her to use that gift to glorify Him. For the past eight years, she’s had the privilege of leading worship and considers it a blessing every time she gets to worship alongside her church family.

One of her favorite passages in Scripture is found in the book of Ezekiel, where the Spirit of God leaves the Holy of Holies and goes east toward Babylon to be with His people in exile. She loves how this passage reveals God’s deep desire to be with His people, reminding us that His love pursues us even in the midst of our brokenness.

The Bible verse she strives to live by is John 15:4–6, where Jesus reminds us to abide in Him, for apart from Him we can do nothing. It’s a passage that continually points her back to complete dependence on Christ.

If she could meet anyone in heaven besides Jesus, she would choose David. She would love to hear him sing the psalms he wrote in the presence of the Lord.

And if she could ask God one question, it would be, “What will we do throughout all of eternity in the new heaven and the new earth?” It’s a question that reflects her wonder and excitement for the eternity God has promised His people.

The Lord will always provide, we are so beyond blessed that our community was apart of it♥️

With the money raised from the yard sale this weekend we will be able to help the men in our program provide gifts to their children for Christmas.
