Remember waiting by the window for the mail to come — bolting to the mailbox hoping for that one letter? Maybe it was from someone you loved. Maybe it was a job offer, or news you’d been waiting on.

Now imagine getting a handwritten note from God Himself. Would you leave it in your pocket for a couple weeks before opening it? Of course not — you’d tear it open immediately.
Yet that’s exactly what the Bible is: a letter from God. People carry it everywhere — different colors, sizes, translations, even on their phones — but never actually open it. A letter from God goes unread.

What a missed opportunity. The psalmist wrote, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105 NLT). If you want God to speak to you, open His Word.

This photo, taken some years ago at a Harvest Crusade in Arizona, shows me holding a truly unique copy of Scripture — Billy Graham’s own Bible, heavily underlined with notes in the margins, which he personally gave to Steve McQueen. Steve had forgotten his own Bible and was on his way into surgery. He asked the famed evangelist to pray for him, and Billy did — then gave him this Bible to carry with him. Sadly, Steve died shortly after that surgery. When he passed, they found this Bible, the one Billy had given him, clutched in his hand.
The Bible is precious. Open it today.
