At Gethsemane Church, we have seen God working in people’s lives in miraculous ways.

James shared his testimony during our Night of Gratitude, and today we simply thank God that he is here with us.

His story is a powerful reminder that God is still working, still moving, and still writing stories of redemption.

Back to school doesn’t just mean new backpacks, new classrooms, and new routines… it means a new season.

Today at Gethsemane, we gathered to pray over that season.

Students and teachers brought items that represent their schools, classrooms, and the year ahead. Grandparents and family members brought items representing their children and grandchildren. And together, we placed them before God and covered them in prayer.
We prayed for protection.
We prayed for wisdom.
We prayed for courage.
We prayed for teachers and students.
We prayed for friendships, decisions, challenges, and opportunities.
And most of all, we prayed that Christ would go before them.

There was something incredibly powerful about hearing voices throughout the room praying over the next generation… parents praying, grandparents praying, teachers praying, students praying, and our church family standing together in prayer.

We may not be able to walk into every classroom with them, but we can send them covered in prayer.

And we did just that today.

Lord, go before our students. Go before our teachers. Go before every administrator, staff member, bus driver, counselor, and family. Let Your presence be known in our schools, and use our people to shine the light of Christ wherever You send them.

A new school year is here… and we are sending them out covered in prayer.

Back-to-School Blessing is this Sunday!

Students and teachers of ALL ages…bring an item that represents the start of your school year. A backpack, pencil, book, school ID, classroom item, or anything meaningful to you.

Parents, grandparents, and caregivers…we’d love for you to participate too. Bring something representing your child or grandchild and we’ll pray over them and the year ahead.

And if they aren’t with you Sunday, that’s okay…bring a photo of them. We want to pray over their school year too.

This Sunday, we’re not just starting another school year…we’re dedicating it to God.

Come ready to worship, pray, and ask God to go before our students, teachers, and families in the year ahead.

Save the Date for Trunks of Treat for the Fred Douglas’s Students and families. This event has grown year after year with Blades staff participating and their families attending as well. Gethsemane folks can Sign up to decorate a trunk and hand out goodies on October 28th (rain date: 29th) via our church sign up.
