Introducing Pastor Michael Ricks!

Michael Leonard Ricks was born Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Rev. Cleotis Ricks and late Jesse Carter.
Michael gave his life to Christ in 1995 while attending Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama. In 2010, he moved to Beaufort, SC where he joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He served as a deacon in the Deacon Ministry, Sunday School teacher, bible study teacher, and teacher in the children church. In addition, he developed and taught leadership training for ministry leaders.

Michael answered the called to preach the gospel and was licensed in January 2018. In march 2019, he was ordained and appointed as the youth pastor. He was instrumental in the publishing of the church’s covenant, assisting in developing the Bylaws and policies at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Michael was appointed as the Youth Pastor in 2019. Under his leadership, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church lead many of their youths to Christ and trained them in Lord through their Sunday Youth Services, productions, vacation bible school, and youth retreats.

Michael was appointed as the Assistant Pastor in 2024. While serving as assistant pastor, he received experience in the administration of the church. In addition, he assisted with the planning and ex*****on of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church’s mission trip to Kenya, Africa.

In 2026, Michael answered the call to become the next pastor of Huspah Baptist Church.
Michael served over 20 years in the United States Army Reserve. In addition, he served over 25 years in law enforcement. Michael served in many law enforcement positions, to include Chief of Police. Currently, he serves as the Chief Deputy at Hampton County Sheriff’s Office.
He earned an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Military College, a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi, and Masters of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Michael is married to Alesia (29 years) with two sons (Ryan and Michael II), one daughter (Michalle), a grandson (Cameron), and a granddaughter (Ryanne).
