Battle 20 of 365: Our most important daily battle is fought in our mind. Our mind is where we meet with God - where we consider God - where we fellowship with God. HOWEVER, our mind also gives birth to sin. THEREFORE, we battle through obedience and quick repentance, so that our mind is a holy temple, and not a place where sin is able to relax. In the Book of Romans chapter eight the Apostle Paul teaches us, as he tells us: "Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit." Here we clearly see two ways in which we can live our life, and go through our day. We can live according to the flesh, or we can live according to the Spirit. Even believers can have seasons where they walk too much according to the flesh, and that can be very dangerous and destructive for ourselves, and for those near to us. We must make a clear stand., throughout each day, to walk according to the Spirit. This means that we are actively and decisively following the Spirit of God within us, which is us following the will of God, as we learn HIS will for us. This is us following our Good Shepherd through HIS word. Then we read: "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." These are real results of decisions that we make. If we allow sin to occupy our mind it will be harsh spiritual death, and that would be an absolute disaster. We are meant to honor God and worship God and obey God, for HIS glory. Sin can quickly wreak havoc in our lives and families, if we are not ready and alert. Finally we are told: "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God (in opposition); for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you." If we are living in submission to God, then the Holy Spirit is alive and active in our life, and not being quenched or extinguished. THEN we are IN THE SPIRIT, and that is the greatest place to be. Lord, please help us understand how to be spiritually minded. Please give us passionate hearts that are ready to take authority over our minds, in Your strength. We desire life and victory! We desire Your will and glory! Please use us for Your glory! Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 14 of 365: The greatest gift we can offer our families is our humble faithfulness to God, which in turn, allows us to offer up very effective prayers on their behalf. We must be an effective minister of Christ, praying for others, as we maintain a holy temple of God within ourselves, as we labor with obedience and quick repentance to keep the temple of our mind undefiled. This is important, because our mind is where we meet with God. TODAY we will consider this miracle of Jesus from Luke chapter five: "Now it happened on a certain day, as HE was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before HIM. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus." Then we read these amazing words: "When HE saw their faith, HE said to him, 'Man, your sins are forgiven you." Jesus noticed the faith of these men, and it meant something. This man was given a grace that did more than just physically heal HIM. This man tasted the grace of God, and was forgiven, and spiritually healed. The grace of God that moved on people before the CROSS, was a grace that moved, because the promise of the sin payment was SURE. This is amazing! Our faith, on behalf of someone near to us, could possibly allow for grace to be poured out upon that struggling soul. When our faith is strong, and the fruits of our faith in God are made evident, our prayers suddenly become tremendously effective. In the Book of James chapter five we are told plainly: "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." The prayers of a humble - repentant - innocent - obedient child of God will accomplish much, as we aggressively pray for those given to us by God to pray for. This should set off alarms for us. If we know that our prayers can accomplish much, and move grace towards someone near to us, then we have every reason to be holy, and pray more. Finally we read from Luke, as Jesus Proclaims: "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins --HE said to the man who was paralyzed, 'I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.' Immediately he rose up before them." Lord, please grow our faith in You. And may our faith compel us to follow You, and obey You, with an aggressive obedience. Please use our prayers to accomplish much in the lives of those near to us. You are great and compassionate, and we must praise You! Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 356 of 365: REMEMBER that at Jesus' birth an angel, and a multitude of heavenly hosts, with the glory of the Lord, visited poor shepherds tending their flocks at night. TODAY we read from the Gospel of Luke chapter two, as we Are reminded: "So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, 'Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.' And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen HIM, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds." This may seem like a small detail, but it is not. God wanted these shepherds to SEE Jesus, and to tell a certain message. It was not that these shepherds simply told people that this baby had been born, this passage says that: "When they had seen HIM, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child." These shepherds were told a message about Jesus that they needed to make WIDELY KNOWN. And they could, because they were eye witnesses to the MIRACULOUS. Our families and churches, and all of our mission field, needs witnesses to the MIRACULOUS. We need to be seeing and acknowledging the ongoing work of Christ in our life everyday. We need the confirmation in our spirit that what we are experiencing is CHRIST AT WORK, and then we need to be ready to GO TELL anyone who God puts on our path, as a witness, and for a supernatural encouragement in someone's life, beginning with those closest to us. In the Gospel of John chapter one, the Apostle John speaks of Christ with HIS disciples. John testifies: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we BEHELD HIS GLORY, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." The disciples needed to see the glory of Christ as students, so that they could bear the good fruit of a WITNESS, as working apostles. We are meant to be witnesses to God's glory and power and wisdom and love, so that we can be passionate encouragers to those around us. Lord, please help us to understand your glorious word. Please make us strong witnesses to Your glory. Please use us to serve and to help one another in Your strength. Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 347 of 365: Yesterday we went to the very beginning of the Book of Hebrews, and we dwelt upon this amazing verse: "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by HIS Son." From this passage, we considered how God,
in these last days is speaking to us by HIS Son - JESUS. First, we considered the actual recorded spoken words of Jesus, found in scripture, and how we can hear our names being spoken, in our spirit, as we read HIS words, and apply them to our life. Secondly, we will consider the works of Jesus - all that HE did - and how these preordained works can speak to us, and help us, and teach us about our great God and Savior. Today we read a miracle of Jesus from the Gospel of Mark chapter eight. Here we read: "Then HE (Jesus) came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to HIM, and begged HIM to touch him. So HE took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when HE had spit on his eyes and put HIS hands on him, HE asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, 'I see men like trees, walking.' Then HE put HIS hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly. Then HE sent him away to his house, saying, 'Neither go into the town, nor tell anyone in the town." As we see in scripture, Jesus could have simply spoken a word and this man would have been healed. It would seem that Jesus did what HE did upon this earth, during HIS three year ministry, to first teach HIS disciples, who would soon become the apostles and pillars of the church age. AND to teach us! Jesus used spit on this man's eyes because that was what was required for this circumstance. The man was healed in two stages because that was how Jesus chose to heal this man. Deliverance and healing (spiritual or physical) typically requires someone having faith and someone praying and someone obeying God's plan for deliverance and healing. We examine our life, and we must be ready to pray, and we must be ready to show our faith by obeying God's plan. God's plan will probably not involve spitting on someone's eyes. However, God's plan for deliverance and healing will many times require a personal act of obedience, as God works to be heard in our life. AND, we may be required to show our faith when things do not happen immediately, but in stages. Lord, please help us to understand more about You, through the works that You completed upon this earth. Please teach us Your truth. May we learn to hear and understand what You are requiring of us. You are worthy.
Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 343 of 365: In the Prophecy of Revelation chapter two we read a prophetic message to the church, written to the church at Ephesus, yet speaking prophetically to us TODAY. Here we read: "To the angel (messenger - pastor) of the church of Ephesus write, 'These things says HE who holds the seven stars in HIS right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands; I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name's sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love." The problem with this church was not that they lacked good works and good behavior. They seemed to be a shinning example of what a church should LOOK LIKE. But they were NOT a shinning example of what a church should FEEL LIKE. As part of Christ's Church, how should we be feeling? When we are sitting in a sanctuary, or when we are serving as part of the church, is our great God and Savior looking to see our heart? Is Christ looking to see not just what we are doing, but why we are doing it. What a glorious experience when we are in a place, with other believers, and our compulsion is our need to be near to the presence of God and HIS word. Of course, we can find the presence of God anywhere, but there is GLORY when we come together with like-mindedness, and our unity is NOT based on our activities and fellowship, but our unity is our souls being drawn to Christ as our source of ALL goodness and grace and hope and peace and strength. When we by grace are feeling our desperate need for God through Christ, and when we have felt Christ supplying our every need, then we will love HIM, and God will experience our love for HIM. Lord, may what we do, be done because we love You, because we have felt that You first loved us, and gave Yourself for us. Please may we experience You today, and may our response be our love for You, and a good life with good works, because we have discovered a great love for You. Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 338 of 365: ALL of God's word is truly ALIVE and POWERFUL. We should love that there are passages that are condensed with great power. There are times when we can consume a short verse and find spiritual healing. AND there are times when we must study and consume many passages to find what we need. Maybe what we need today is to read through and consider the Book of Jonah, or maybe the Book of James. But then maybe there is a short passage with few words that God intends on using in our life today. We should probably pray for the Lord to help us choose the right passages to read and consider each day. It is good, as we pick up our Bible, to simply pray: "Please show me Lord." The Lord knows how we feel - HE knows how we want to feel - and HE knows how we need to feel. And HE will help us, and infuse us with what we need, if we will remain faithful to HIM, by remaining faithful to HIS word. Lord, please show us what we need. TODAY we will read from the Book of Psalms chapter one hundred and three. Here David preaches to himself, as he proclaims: "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless HIS holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all HIS benefits." Maybe when David wrote this Psalm his soul was in a bad place, so he confronts his bad feelings, by reminding himself to do what he was created to do: BLESS THE LORD - to please the Lord with HIS life. When David then proclaims: "Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's," he is reminding himself - David is preaching to himself. David tells his own soul to start blessing the Lord, then he tells his soul why: BECAUSE God is the one: "Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases (and much more). Lord, I do not want to waste this day with a useless bad attitude. You deserve better from me. Please help us to confront ourselves when we are in a bad place. Please remind us of Your goodness and mercy, and of our reason for living today. You are worthy of our best. Thank You Lord! Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 335 of 365: In the Book of Habakkuk, the prophet Habakkuk cries out to God, as he struggled with the violence, and the seemingly unjust acts he was seeing around God's chosen people. Habakkuk was questioning why God seemed to be doing nothing. Then God explains that HE will use the Babylonians to bring judgment on Judah. Habakkuk then struggles with this, questioning how a holy God can use such a wicked nation. But God assures Habakkuk that judgment is coming for the wicked, and the righteous will eventually live by faith. The Book of Habakkuk helps us to understand how our great God and Father and Savior deals with our sin, giving us a hope of repentance and forgiveness and restoration. The Book concludes in chapter three with Habakkuk's prayer and song of praise, expressing his renewed faith and trust in God's power and promises. In the prophecy of Habakkuk chapter three we read: "Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls-- yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation." The Book of Habakkuk teaches us to have faith in God, even when we do not understand why God is doing and allowing certain things to occur. This is why Proverbs chapter three teaches us: "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." There must be great spiritual power happening when we are living by faith, even when things are SEEMINGLY falling down around us. In Habakkuk chapter two we read: "Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith." Then finally Habakkuk ends with this passage from chapter three, as the prophet proclaims: "The Lord God is my strength; HE will make my feet like deer's feet, and HE will make me walk on my high hills." Lord, by grace, we will live by faith, and we will trust You no matter what we face. You are our strength! You will not fail us! Thank You Lord! Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 329 of 365: TODAY we will go back to the Gospel of Matthew chapter six, as Jesus teaches us how we must be praying: Our heart cry must be: "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." In this passage Jesus tells us that we must be wanting forgiveness. Ongoing and daily self examination, in regards to our sin, is crucial. Lingering sin in our life can result in struggles and pain that could otherwise be avoided, with obedience, and with quick sincere repentance. REMEMBER, we have been delivered, through Christ, from the eternal punishment of our sin. This is our redemption - the price paid for our sin. HOWEVER, we still need ongoing repentance and forgiveness as a child of God. Our sin can render us useless, as an instrument of God's glory, and that would be sad. We must love the approval of God in our obedience, as much as we hate the discipline of God in our rebellion. AND, we must consider our own forgiveness in relations to our forgiveness of others. In this same passage, Jesus makes this strong statement, which must be considered. Jesus tells us plainly: "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." We must be ready to forgive, when our Master is telling us to forgive. In the Book of Philippians chapter four the Apostle Paul tells us: "Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand." This word GENTLENESS describes a person with the power to make harsh demands, and yet they choose to be gracious instead, like a judge who shows leniency rather than enforcing the full extent of the law. When God is telling us to forgive and show leniency and patience, we must. Why? Because there is spiritual power in our forgiveness of others, AND BECAUSE, we too need forgiveness - leniency - and patience. Lord, please help us to know when and how to forgive others in our life. We need Your patience and forgiveness. Please may our hearts grow to be humble and forgiving, without compromising Your truth. Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 322 of 365: One thing that is evident in scripture is that God challenges HIS children, because HE has empowered us, with HIS Holy Spirit. Being a follower of Christ in this world is the most difficult challenge we will ever face. Our strength will be intentionally depleted by our great God, in HIS perfect eternal wisdom, so that we will discover how we can humbly, yet boldly, access HIS strength, which is only found in HIS holy presence. We must understand that the strength we need from the presence of God is only possible when we have prepared a holy meeting place, in the temple of our minds, as we have dealt with our sin through obedience, and quick passionate repentance. If our mind is controlled by our weak flesh, with NO battle for obedience, we lose the felt presence of God, which is our strength to overcome darkness, with the light of God's approval over our life. There are certain passages of scripture that teach us the necessity of holy passion in our life to resist our weak flesh. An example of this is found in the Gospel of Matthew chapter eighteen. Here Christ Himself gives us these strong spiritual words, as HE tells us: "If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire." Of course, these are spiritual words describing a spiritual mindset of holy resistance. Christ teaches us to be spiritually aggressive in our battle to stop sin in our life. Our reward is God's approval. In the Prophecy of Zephaniah chapter three we are told: "The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; HE will rejoice over you with gladness, HE will quiet you with HIS love, HE will rejoice over you with singing." What glory and blessings we can find when our passion is pleasing God with our obedience, as we wage a holy war against our weak flesh. Lord, You deserve our passionate obedience. I desire to have Your approval over my life. Please let us find glory and strength in Your presence, through Your great word. You are worthy!
Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Battle 315 of 365: TODAY we read from the Book of First Corinthians chapter ten, as the Apostle Paul inspirationally tells each of us: "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." This passage reveals something very important concerning God's expectations for us, HIS Spirit filled children. There is nothing more routine than EATING and DRINKING. We have done this most everyday since we were born. So what is the spiritual point being made to us? Our great God, who dwells within us, and who is always watching us, intervening for us, and desiring to fellowship with us, desires to be acknowledged in even our daily routine. We read: "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." Whether it is eating or drinking or ANYTHING else, we must do it for God's glory. But what does this really mean? What is God's glory that can happen even in the midst of our most routine and mundane tasks? God's glory is expressed through our life organically when we feel our great need for HIM, as our refuge, and as our strength, and as our very present help. When, by grace, we see how God is delicately caring for our fragile existence in this life, we will be thankful, and we will boast of HIM, as our provider, and our sustainer, and all that we will ever need. When our life is a display of how good - and how important - and how powerful - and how full of love our great God is, then we are being instruments of HIS glory, and this is our greatest calling and greatest honor and greatest blessing. As we spiritually grow in our relationship to our great God, probably the first thing we will notice is how the few times we say, "Thank you Lord," turns into MANY times that we say, "Thank you Lord!" God will be in all we have, and in all we do, even in the most routine and mundane things of our day. Thank You Lord for being involved in every part, of everyday, of our life. Please awaken our souls to see Your hand moving in our life, as You perfectly care for us. I will not ignore You! We need You all of the time! You allow every breath we take, every meal we eat, every good thing that we do. We must exalt You! Thank You Lord. Please pour Your grace out upon us TODAY. I know that our access to the throne of grace is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
