At this time, we would like to welcome Pastor Justin Tigerman as our Part-time Transitional Pastor. Here's a message from Pastor Tigerman:

Hello and Grace to You through our Lord, Jesus Christ.

My name is Rev. Justin Tigerman and I have the pleasure of stepping into the role of part-time transitional pastor to St. Matthew’s Lutheran in Scranton, St. Peter’s Lutheran in Hughestown, and St. Peter’s Lutheran in Scranton.

This is a big step for all of us. We are embarking on a new possibility in this area of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod. We all bring histories, hopes, and wonderings. I bring history in serving as a pastor, non-profit director and chaplain in 4 states. I am excited and hopeful to work with each site in ministry and transition. I am wondering how we can partner as congregations and disciples effectively together.

My first focus in this endeavor is to get to know you! I will be at each site at least once per month for worship leadership and look forward to seeing you at each of these opportunities. I will also value seeing you outside of worship times in the community, at events, or in one-on-one conversations. I look forward to meeting each of you, hearing your story, and exploring how we might follow Jesus as a community.

As of September 1,2024 I will be retired as pastor of St. Peters. We have had ups and downs over 20 years but the trend caught up with us. Also that day St.Peters embarks on a new and different path. It has GREAT potential but needs the support of EVERY member of this congregation. Please give it a fair chance. DO NOT just say it won't work. YOU be a part of the solution. Thank you for the opportunity of having served you and the greater Christian community of Scranton. It will be a pleasant memory as I move forward with my family.

Requesting use of masks, distancing etc. at St. Peters due to a number of members having had COVID recently. Make use of hand sanitizers on table in narthex. Precautionary no panic necessary. 10/9/23
