Prayer is an integral part of Fiat Days.

From Mass, to Eucharistic Adoration, to Liturgy of the Hours, we prioritize making time to hear the Lord’s voice and reflecting on his presence among us during the course of each day.

Here’s what some of last year’s participants had to say about prayer at Fiat:

“The free time that allowed for making connections and spending time in the Adoration Chapel was especially fruitful. I believe the slower, more relaxed pace of this retreat makes for more ample time for the prayer and introspection that is so crucial to discernment, and also for making new friends!”

“I really enjoyed adoration and the opportunity for confession. I also loved attending the morning and night prayers every day.”

“I found our prayer time in the Chapel very valuable and fruitful, I and many of the girls I would talk to were in love with the Holy Hour moment we had in the Chapel and just all of the prayers we did together.“

While sports, outdoor activities, and community-building are key points during Quo Vadis Days, prayer is what glues everything together.

Like the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi, our active life can be a deeply rich expression of prayer - during Quo Vadis Days, in daily life, and especially throughout our discernment.

Participants at Quo Vadis have said this about the spirit of prayer during the camp:

“The prayer life was probably the most valuable. I feel that the prayer really touched me and was probably my favorite part about attending Quo Vadis.”

“Probably the greatest time in my life, and it was amazing having access to the chapel during free time and having all the prayer time, which truly lifted my mind more to God.”

“We didn’t have much interaction between those periods, but I got to see the devotion at Fiat alongside our devotion at Quo Vadis, which I believe made some of the prayers feel more faithful.”

The Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton, has announced that the Cathedral Convent building at 333 Wyoming Avenue will become the Saint Pius X Propaedeutic House of Formation, welcoming its first seminarians in August 2026.

The new house of formation reflects recent updates to the Church’s formation model, as outlined in the Program for Priestly Formation, which includes a distinct Propaedeutic Stage. This initial stage is designed to provide a strong spiritual and human foundation before formal theological studies begin.

In naming the house after Saint Pius X, the Diocese also honors the legacy of the former Saint Pius X Seminary in Dalton, which educated generations of priests from 1962 to 2004.

Bishop Bambera has appointed Rev. Alex J. Roche to serve as the Rector of Saint Pius X Propaedeutic House of Formation; Fr. Roche will remain the Diocesan Secretary for Clergy Formation and the Director of Seminarians. Fr. Roche will be in residence at St. Pius X Propaedeutic House, Scranton.

Bishop Bambera has also appointed Rev. Ryan P. Glenn to serve as Diocesan Vocation Director. Fr. Glenn will continue to serve as Pastor, Christ the King Parish, Archbald.

Both of these appointments are effective June 1, 2026.

We ardently thank Fr. Roche for all the hard work, time, and dedication he has given to vocation ministry in the Diocese of Scranton over the last 6 years, and we joyfully welcome Fr. Glenn as he steps into this new role! Please keep our seminarians as well as Fr. Roche and Fr. Glenn in your prayers.

Happy Fiat Friday!

The Catechism of the Catholic Church has this to say about the interplay between preaching the Gospel and joy:

“The transmission of the Christian faith consists primarily in proclaiming Jesus Christ in order to lead others to faith in him. From the beginning, the first disciples burned with the desire to proclaim Christ: ‘We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.’ And they invite people of every era to enter into the joy of their communion with Christ.” (CCC 426)

How does joy play a role in your daily life? In your goal of evangelization? In your vocation or discernment?
