Hickory Street Presbyterian Church

Hickory Street Presbyterian Church Join us for our Worship Service on Sunday Mornings at 10:45 am. Hickory Street United Presbyterian Church is a faith community that is open to all persons.

Everyone is welcome to join us for fellowship and growing in Christian discipleship. We delight in sharing God with others, and know that we can only truly become who God wants us to be, by being in relationship with others. Our Session and pastor value the opportunity to explore with others their thoughts and questions regarding faith, life, the Church, and what it truly means to, "love your neighbor as yourselves."

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ Dearest God, who has brought all things into being through Your light,

We pray that peace will blossom in the hearts of everyone who is afraid,
May those blooms infuse every circumstance with the the fragrance of Christ --the fragrance of improbable, mysterious triumph.

We pray that peace will descend like tongues of fire in our hearts and in the hearts of our leaders. Transform our hearts until they glow so hot that masks of deception and denial fall away, leaving the clarity and courage we need to follow the ways of Christ's peace.
Amen.

Please join us in lifting up prayers for our siblings in Nepal as search and rescue is still underway from last week's flash floods and landslides.

PDA has processed a solidarity grant for our partner Juneli Nepal and we are working with our other partner in Nepal, TOGETHER FOR NEPAL, while they assess the needs to soon put in their grant request, as well.

For more information, including how to give to support this response, see our website. We will provide updates as they are available. https://pcusa.org/disaster-assistance/active-responses/international-disaster/nepal

The great poet Wendell Berry has left us. Even you are not familiar with that name, you have probably heard his poetry. One of the most well known is The Peace of Wild Things. If you find God, peace, sabbath and comfort in the glory of nature, then Wendell Berry is a companion you want to include on your faith journey. Well done, good and faithful servant.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ May we find the strength to follow this path. No matter what is requested or required by our beliefs, we hope we can stay in Spirit. Death nor despair govern our behavior, thinking or emotions.

May God guide our path.
