Great time this week at the 36th Annual National Leadership Forum in Washington, DC. It was a joy reconnecting with longtime friends and colleagues while also building new relationships and partnerships for the future.

Grateful for the opportunity to spend time chatting with Sara Carter, the new Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Grateful for the opportunity to accompany Amy Payne and a great group of Kentuckians to help present Senator McConnell’s office with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Excited for what’s ahead. I wad honored to represent our community while learning new ways to strengthen prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts back home in Scottsville and Allen County.
Excited for what’s ahead and the continued work to build stronger, healthier communities together.

The Allen County Health Departments Health Action Team partnered with the Scottsville Allen County Faith Coalition to sponsor a va**ng cessation billboard design contest.

Students at the Allen County Intermediate Center and Allen County Scottsville High School were educated on the facts about va**ng and tasked to design a billboard to be displayed locally.

First place was awarded to Rhett Reddick, with his design, “vape? Nah, I’m Good.” Second place was awarded to Victoria Oliver, with her design, “They Are Your Only Lungs.

Today is National Fentanyl Awareness Day.

We're asking for families to watch our four-minute Counterfeit Pills — You Need to Know video with the teens in your life and then have a five-minute conversation with them about the dangers of fentanyl and fake pills.

WHAT IS NATIONAL FENTANYL AWARENESS DAY?

Now in its third year, National Fentanyl Awareness Day brings together individuals, parents, teachers, corporations, influencers, community groups, and government entities to help put an end to this emergency.

Last year, over 70,000 Americans fatally overdosed on illegally made fentanyl. Fentanyl is now found in fake pills and many street drugs, but users are often unaware that their drugs contain the potent opioid. This is an urgent public health crisis that puts all of us, and our loved ones, at risk. We all must play a role in preventing further tragedies.
