We must learn from the past - and not live in it. If we get stuck there how can we move forward towards what God has in store for us?

"Jesus replied, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62 NIV)

Be careful when criticizing another. Too often we may condemn others for their faults when we may have our own that we allow to go unexamined. Imagine how it would be if God criticized us for every fault we might have rather than loving us unconditionally as He does.
Luke 6:41-42 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye?"

If you look back at the times that you worked hard to achieve something or get somewhere you wanted to go, you will find there were certain unexpected things that happened that helped you along the way to success: a stranger lending a hand, a door being opened, a roadblock being removed... These unexplained events become explainable when you realize it was the hand of God moving through your life helping you achieve success. Take some time to celebrate your victories and be thankful for His help.
Psalm 20:5 NIV May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God."

2 Peter 3:9 NIV "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you."

If we could truly subdue all our fleshly appetites by the pure power of our own determination, we would simply worship our own will. But if the Word of God is about anything at all, it is about God's will rather than ours.
Colossians 2:23 NKJ "These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh."

Are we more concerned with how others see us and making everyone else happy to gain their approval? If so, the only one we may not be making happy is our self. Be a people helper--not a people pleaser.
Galatians 1:10 " Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ."

Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be......

THE DIFFERENCE
I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn't have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.
He answered, "You didn't ask."

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said, "But you didn't seek."

I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
"My child, you didn't knock."

I woke up early this morning,
and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I had to take time to pray.

"Forgiveness is a choice. We may not be able to choose to wipe away the hurt that someone has caused but we can choose to cast off the bitterness, anger, and feelings of the need for revenge and justice. How? Trust in God, believe His word, and turn judgment over to Him. Once we let God take over, we can start to let the negative feelings go."
Luke 6:37 NIV "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

God hates sin but still loves the sinner. No matter how hard we try, we will never be free of some type of sin. Being just, God requires payment for our sins. However, His Son has already paid the price for us - all we need to do is repent and accept His forgiveness. It is really that simple.
"If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you." (Psalm 130:3-4 NIV)
