Recently in England a meeting house was broken into by police and people were arrested with the charge of "Suspicion of conspiracy to cause a public nuisance." Or as it was summed up-- for thoughts

There is an interesting discussion on Quaker views about sacred space and why we react to this type of intrusion so strongly: "it’s not our sacred space, but it’s still our precious space and our home".

The podcast ends with this reminder:

"wherever you encounter injustice, may you also encounter community, may our collective Silent Witness be louder than the clamor of hatred, and may all your actions, whether you are refusing tea to an invading police force or serving it to them upon their return, be done in love."

The podcast is worth a listen to further understand why our reactions (actions) to non-civil behavior are important in our practice of faith.

Join us each week as we explore stories of spiritual courage. We’ll delve into the lives of Quakers past and present, and explore the big questions about modern life and spirituality. A podcast for spiritual seekers, lifelong Quakers, and everything in between.

Ramallah Friends School held an informational meeting today. Established in 1869 (Lower School) and expanded in 1901 (Upper School) to meet the needs of children not just in Palestine, but also from surrounding nation. Over the many years the school has faced many challenges to continue to advance education based in Friends values. The latest challenge has been brought on by the US AID cuts. The project for building a cistern to address water shortages and outdoor bathrooms so the children have facilities when outside playing, all had to stop. We were told we can help by advocating for the school.

The need currently is financial to replace the funds lost so that RFS can continue to serve its community and complete the multipurposed hall. This is from their website: "This campaign is divided into two phases. Phase 1 addresses the need to complete construction of a recreational facility. Phase 2 focuses on long-term growth, including establishing a community college and expanding career-focused programs."

A pop-up window for the Foundation For Tomorrow will allow you to make a donation, if you are so moved.

In Peace...
