It’s exhausting trying to live a faithful life in a culture that feels so divided and broken. When we look around, our natural instinct is often to grab our tools, build high walls, and start aggressively pulling up the "weeds." We want to clean up the field so we can feel safe.

But when the servants in Jesus’ parable ask if they should do exactly that, the Master’s answer is shocking: "No. Let them both grow together."

Why would Jesus tell us to leave the weeds alone? Because we are terribly bad at judging human hearts, and trying to play God always causes collateral damage.

Join us this Sunday as we look at the Parable of the Wheat and the Tares in Matthew 13. We're going to talk about dropping the heavy burden of judgment, trusting the Master's patience, and learning how to bear good fruit right in the middle of a messy world.

You don't have to be the judge. You just have to be the wheat. 🌾

Are we trading our birthright for our Sundays off? 🚜🌾

If you talk to any farmers in our neck of the woods right now, they’ll tell you that modern agriculture is a game of high stakes and high precision. With the price of seed skyrocketing, nobody is just flinging it out into the wind and hoping for the best. You protect the investment.

But this Sunday, as we dive into Matthew 13, Jesus introduces us to a Sower who looks like He has absolutely no business running a farm. He doesn't check soil maps; He just flings priceless seed everywhere—on concrete paths, over rock ledges, and straight into briar patches.

As theologian Will Willimon points out, this beautiful "wastefulness" is the whole point. God is a prodigal Sower, recklessly flinging His grace at us even when our hearts are hardened or distracted.

The real question is: How are we treating that scandalous generosity?

When we look at our Old Testament reading, we see Esau making a famously terrible trade—swapping a permanent, holy birthright for a single, temporary bowl of stew because he wanted comfort right now.

The truth is, we do the same thing when we treat our faith like a convenient "religious accessory" instead of a life-altering relationship.

Come ready this Sunday to look at the "dirt" of your own life, and to marvel at a Sower who loves us too much to be efficient with us.
