Nahalah Presbyterian Church is small, rural Church located in Halifax County near Scotland Neck, NC. It is a church with traditional values and a congregation that appreciates its history, yet is involved in planning for the future. Savage with fourteen starting members. The present building was constructed in 1920 following a fire in 1916, which destroyed the original church. Morning worship is held each Sunday at 9:30 am followed by Sunday School at 10:30 am.

Sunday worship September 6, 2026 - Hi Folks, today we looked at the passage in the first chapter of John where Jesus tells Nathanael “when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” This led us to Micah 4:4 just after the promise that we will turn our swords into pruning hooks where we read; “They shall sit, every one under his fig tree and none shall make them afraid.” We also looked at Luke 13:6-9, the Parable of the fig tree. This is where the master was going to cut a fruitless tree down, but the gardener convinced him to wait another year and to work a little manure around the tree to help it bear fruit. These passages are meant to help us to transcend the power of our immediate circumstances in order to realize the fullest blessings of God in the middle if our present troubles. Sunday worship August 16, 2026 - Hi Folks,

This week we used an amazing artifact I acquired about 20 years ago without even realizing what I had. It’s an old hammered copper ladle with an inscription on the handle. For years I could not read the inscription, but last week I discovered that it is in Armenian telling us that it was used in the liturgy of Baptism in the Armenian Orthodox Church more than 100 years ago. Armenia and the Armenian Christians came to be wiped out by Turkey in 1915.

We used this artifact to help in understanding the story of the Samaritan woman at the Well in John chapter 4. We set this story alongside the words of Jesus regarding living water from John 7:37-39. We also compared the living water text from Revelation 21:5-7. These scriptures show us that the terrible tragedies of human existence can be redeemed by our compassion and our openness to the true meaning of human suffering. The power of the Holy Spirit is here for us to help us to see through the hardships and failures of life to see the deeper meaning of the whole picture. All we need to do is to let go of our foolish attachments to ego and culture. This is the lesson of history from a Biblical perspective. I hope it offers you a real blessing.
