Friday in the First

Refuge Church Pastor Philip A. Brown, a resident of Scotland Neck, has spent more than 30 years leading with faith, service, and a deep commitment to his community.

He launched a monthly food distribution that grew into a vital regional resource, providing thousands of pounds of food monthly to individuals and families across Halifax County and beyond. Besides his ministry, Pastor Brown spent 15 years as an educator, including over a decade as a special education teacher in Halifax County Public Schools, shaping students' lives. He also serves as a prison chaplain at Roanoke River Correctional Institution and volunteers in hospitals and senior care facilities.

We are proud to recognize Pastor Philip A. Brown for his unwavering dedication to serving others, strengthening his community, and ensuring that no neighbor goes without care or compassion.
