In Acts, God was working greatly, and the believers were united in "heart and mind." Those who had what they needed were willing to share their resources with those who did not. The people knew in their hearts that all their possessions were from God and that He would continue to provide all they needed.

How I long to be as generous as those in Acts. Our resources from God are not meant to be our own; they are to be shared with others. This doesn't have to be material items only. Sharing God's love, His promises, and the talents He has given you can help others come to know that God is a good and gracious Father.

Waiting for God to move in our lives, or to rescue us from our trials, can be challenging. David was facing much adversity, which he mentions throughout Psalm 27. Yet he still placed his hope and trust in God and waited for Him to respond. David didn't know how long it would take for God to act, but he knew God would help him. “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living" (v. 13).

It may take longer than we'd like to experience our breakthrough, but let's take courage in these words: "Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD” (v. 14). As we turn to the Psalms and the rest of Scripture for encouragement, we can take comfort in knowing God is working even while we wait.

Why is it hard sometimes to wait for God's answer?
How can you remain hopeful as you wait?
(Psalm 27:14)

It is impossible for me to remove the stain of sin by my own power. Although I like having an arsenal of cleaning supplies at my disposal, there's nothing I can do to relieve myself of my own sin stain. Only Jesus can remove the stain of sin. Jesus's blood washes me white as snow. Such a miraculous mystery! What a relief to have a Savior who can do the impossible--replace my sin and guilt with a renewed, cleansed spirit.

Find a recording of "Nothing but the Blood of Jesus" online and sing along about how only Jesus cleanses sin and makes us whole again.

Paul desired that everyone eperience the peace he knew. He understood that peace does not come from being like this world, but by having a mind that is fixed on Jesus. He assured the Roman believers that all members of the body of Christ are important, encouraging them to recognize their giftings and use them for God's glory.

We too can do the same. However, if thoughts of inadequacy plague our minds and paralyze us from using our talents, we will be unable to achieve all God has set out for us to do. Most of us struggle with negative thinking, but we can retrain our brain to listen to what God tells us. He tells us we are His! We are loved! We matter!

I cry for the sins of my past that bring regrets. I cry for children who are hurting or lost. I cry for people who refuse to believe that Jesus is God. I often cry tears of joy for the kind, generous things Jesus does for me and the sweet relationship we have.

When I cry, Jesus doesn't simply hear a random person weeping; he hears my specific voice, whether broken or joyous. He calls me by name. Jesus loves me dearly because I am His.
