All are invited to attend our Sunday Morning Worship on June 7 at 9:30 am when Pastor Mick's message will be "You Are Royal Priests" (I Peter 2:9), and Randy Stevens will be providing special music and leading congregational singing. Supervised Nursery (up through 5) and Junior Church (Ages 6-10) available during the Worship Service. Handicapped Accessible!

The Old Testament prophet Jonah had an encounter with a large sea creature. Jonah refused to follow God's directive to preach a message of repentance to the Israelites' enemies, the Ninevites, so he boarded a ship in the opposite direction of Nineveh. When the ship got caught in a storm, Jonah convinced the crew to throw him overboard. "Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights." Jonah went from fleeing from God to crying out to Him: "From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God."

God heard Jonah and rescued him. Then Jonah preached to the Ninevites, and they repented.

If God could hear Jonah's plea from inside a big fish, He can hear us and rescue us from wherever we are. Instead of running from God, let's run to Him in prayer, knowing that He will answer us when we cry out to Him.

Why do we sometimes run from God?
How can we run to Him today?

Dear God, thank You for the rescue You alone provide.

Are there regrets in your life that feel like a heavy weight around your neck? All of us have moments we'd do anything to take back. It can feel like we're cursed to carry the weight of our guilt and regret forever.

Yet God's grace can free our hearts from even the most painful regret. We all have sin (I John 1:8-10), but when we honestly confess our burdens to God, we're promised he "will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." As His grace rushes in, His light and love can flow through us, freeing us to love those around us.

Dear God, thank You that the guilt I carry doesn't exclude me from experiencing Your beauty and grace. Please help me find freedom in Your love today.

Abraham endured many new seasons. He was stuck in his ways for seventy-five years until he was called to follow God. He experienced seasons of waiting, mourning, rejoicing, and trusting in God. Abraham waited twenty-four years between when God promised that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and when his son Isaac was born.

Going through new seasons is a natural part of life. As Christians, we can go into new seasons with the faith that it will all work out according to God's purpose. God is constantly molding us to serve and to know God more deeply, which is made possible by changing with each season.

Life may change, but I am anchored by an unchanging God.

I have found a new way to pray, inspired by Jesus' words in the Gospel of Mark. ''Previously when I prayed, I'd picture the person I was praying for with their current troubles--whether sickness, grief, relationship difficulty, or financial woes--and ask God to help with their needs. Now I begin with asking God to grant the person what they need, and then I thank God for hearing my prayer, trusting that God is at work to fulfill the need in God's time and way.

When I pray like this, I can more easily picture the person I'm praying for as being healed, comforted in their grief, or freed from some difficulty. Maybe picturing the person with their prayer answered is what Jesus meant when he said, "Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." This new way of praying has strengthened my faith and fills me with joyful expectation. God hears our prayers and will answer them in the way and time that is best.

Today I will thank God in advance for answers to my prayers.

Barnabas found Saul and brought him to Antioch, planting him in a community that God was growing (See Acts 11:25-26). They were traveling companions on a missionary journey.

I am so thankful for the faithful friends God has placed in my life as my traveling companions. I need encouragement. I need the example of other believers living out their faith. I'm thankful for my encouragers, and I pray that I can be an encourager for others. Friends are truly a gift from God.

My words of encouragement can be a blessing to others.

I'm ashamed to admit sometimes I delay my precious devotional time with Jesus. I love spending time with Jesus! It's just that often other things get in the way. Occasionally I have an early appointment. I sometimes need to keep grandkids. I may have an important email that should be answered immediately. The cat might be scheduled to go to the vet for shots. So off I go, willy-nilly, promising Jesus I'll meet with Him in the afternoon. But then I need to get groceries and to fix supper. Suddenly, it's bedtime, and I'm too tired to offer Jesus anything but a quick prayer of thanks.

I've determined I must schedule my devotional time for first thing in the morning, before the world gets in the way. There's no more important thing in my life and no better way to start my day.

Set a devotional time to meet with Jesus, and don't deviate from it!

In Acts, God was working greatly, and the believers were united in "heart and mind." Those who had what they needed were willing to share their resources with those who did not. The people knew in their hearts that all their possessions were from God and that He would continue to provide all they needed.

How I long to be as generous as those in Acts. Our resources from God are not meant to be our own; they are to be shared with others. This doesn't have to be material items only. Sharing God's love, His promises, and the talents He has given you can help others come to know that God is a good and gracious Father.
(Acts 4:32)
