Announcing...special 'Honor Beds' dedicated to you and your veteran.

SNC Garden Club will throughout the season plant the live plants that family and friends leave on gravesites once our cemetery staff removes them for lawnmowing purposes.

Rather than toss or set them in a space for 30 days waiting for someone to claim them, we are planting them for everyone to enjoy!

Should you wish your plant back, by all means let us know and we will dig and repot it.

Here are some photos of the gardens blooming with honors! These beds are located at both ends of the Garden Niche.

Thank you! Thank you!

SNC Garden Club '26

The SNC Garden Club has been busy meeting since late April.

Fertilizing, pruning, planting and potting. Hard to call them chores when we have so much fun in light of a few sore muscles afterwards!

One of our first landscape projects this year was the design and installation at Committal Shelter 2.

The landscape bed was extended along the stone wall to provide easier mowing while perennials line the walkway adding color and interest through fall.

It is our sincere pleasure to work with Head Horticulturalist Matt Glogowski each week and our absolute honor to volunteer on these hallowed grounds for our veterans.

SNC Honor Guard visits with Cub Scouts...

Last week, Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard Todd Peterson spent an evening with Melrose Cub Scout Pack 680 teaching them all about our American Flag!

Todd taught these young scouts proper flag handling and folding techniques, flag retirement and the appropriate way to do so. Passing the torch of flag reverence on to another generation!

The scouts also learned some tidbits about ‘Old Glory’ …our flag has been revised 27 times! The 50 white stars on blue canton represent our 50 states, 13 red and white stripes for the original 13 colonies with the colors symbolizing valor (red), purity (white), and justice (blue). The first flag was adopted following the Revolutionary War on June 14, 1777…today it is known as Flag Day.

It was a meeting to remember and at the end, Todd presented each scout with their very own flag to take home!
