First Methodist Church of Schulenburg

First Methodist Church of Schulenburg The First Methodist Church of Schulenburg is a church family devoted to making disciples of Jesus Christ. We share God's love without expecting reward.

Our vision is to offer Christ to our community and culture through the application of Wesleyan principles. We believe this to be a sacred calling that demonstrates holiness in our daily living and dealings with others. It is our hope that every person that knows us will seek relationship with our Lord. Our purpose, therefore, is living Christian principles that show how every person may adopt the

life of faith and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God leads us outward, beyond ourselves, to make a difference in our hurting world.

Ash Wednesday Service, 12 noon

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Lent. We will observe the imposition of ashes, as a reminder of our mortality and need for repentance.

Lent is a 40 day preparation for Easter, inspired by Jesus' 40 days of fasting and testing in the wilderness. For us, it is a time for reflection and commitment to holy living.

A humble meal of soup and bread will follow the service at 12:30 pm.

There will be a dinner following the concert in our fellowship hall. This annual event is always open to the public.

As cold temperatures and weather are set to impact Texas this week, DPS and our friends at the Texas Department of Transportation remind drivers that you can check real-time road conditions on DriveTexas.org.

Stay up-to-date and monitor the conditions in your area, and if inclement weather hits, please avoid travel if possible.

Good morning all,

After looking at the most recent weather data and getting input from our church leadership, the best decision for this Sunday is to cancel all our regular meetings.

With freezing temperatures after a continuous rainfall, hazardous icy roads and sidewalks will present safety hazards.

We will look to have our Church Charge Conference rescheduled for the next Sunday after worship. Stay safe and warm.

Friends, today is a sad, tragic day in our country. Charlie Kirk, a warrior of our Christian faith, of the cause of freedom, and a passionate advocate for young people all across our country has been assassinated at a rally in Utah. He leaves behind a young wife and two children.

So many absurd senseless killings are taking place in our nation, in our schools and in our large cities. Pray for our nation, our leaders and our communities that spiritual awakening and revival may break out and bring redemption and hope to our broken culture.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

Pastor Jerry
