📸 Throwback Thursday

Every church has a story, and every photo helps tell it.

This week's Throwback Thursday takes us back to August 4, 2007, when Schoolcraft United Methodist Church celebrated its 175th Anniversary with a day full of fellowship, laughter, and plenty of homemade ice cream!

These photos capture more than just a celebration. They capture what makes a church family so special. Neighbors visiting over a bowl of ice cream, children enjoying the festivities, volunteers lending a helping hand, and generations coming together to celebrate 175 years of God's faithfulness.

From the western-themed decorations to the homemade ice cream being churned right in the church parking lot, it was a day filled with smiles, memories, and community. Moments like these remind us that while our buildings and traditions may change over time, the joy of gathering together remains at the heart of who we are.

As you look through these photos, you may recognize familiar faces and remember conversations, laughter, or maybe even the taste of that homemade ice cream.

Were you part of the 175th Anniversary celebration? Do you remember this special day? We'd love to hear your favorite memories in the comments!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone celebration so memorable and to everyone who has been part of Schoolcraft United Methodist Church's story over the years.

❤️ Celebrating our past. Living our faith. Looking forward with hope.

🍂 Midweek Motivation 🍂

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”
— Psalm 37:5

We don't always know where the road ahead will lead. Plans change, unexpected challenges arise, and sometimes we're left wondering what comes next.

In those moments, Scripture reminds us that we don't have to have everything figured out before taking the next step.

We can place our plans, our worries, and our uncertainties in God's hands and trust Him with the path ahead.

As this week continues, whatever you're carrying or trying to figure out, commit it to God. Trust that He is with you, guiding you one step at a time. 🍂

A Labor Day Reflection

Some work happens behind a desk. Some happens in a classroom, a hospital, a field, a kitchen, a store, or on the road. Some work earns a paycheck, while some is the quiet and often unseen work of caring for loved ones, raising a family, volunteering, and serving others.

Today, we honor all who use their hands, minds, time, and hearts to make life better for someone else.

“May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us.”
Psalm 90:17

On this Labor Day, we thank God for the people whose work strengthens our families, our church, and our community. We remember those who are working today, those who feel exhausted or overlooked, those searching for employment, and those who are no longer able to work as they once did. We pray for safe workplaces, fair treatment, meaningful opportunities, and dignity for every worker.

We also remember that rest is not something we must earn. It is a gift from God, an invitation to breathe, be renewed, and remember that our worth is not measured by how much we accomplish.

May God bless the work of your hands, bring rest to your body and spirit, and guide each of us to use our gifts in service to one another.

Happy Labor Day!

📸 Throwback Thursday

Every church has a story, and every photo helps tell it.

Today's Throwback Thursday takes us back to October 26, 2014, when Schoolcraft United Methodist Church had the privilege of hosting the first book signing for Love Letters from God, the debut children's book by Glenys Nellist.

Many in our church family will also remember Pastor David Nellist, who faithfully served as pastor at Schoolcraft United Methodist Church. It was a joyful day as members of the congregation gathered to celebrate the release of Glenys's first book and support a family that had been such an important part of our church's story.

Looking back, it's wonderful to see how God has continued to bless Glenys's ministry. What began with Love Letters from God has grown into a writing ministry that has introduced countless children and families to God's love through her books.

Moments like these remind us that the seeds planted within a church family often grow far beyond our walls, touching lives in ways we may never have imagined.

Were you at this special book signing? Do you have memories of Pastor David and Glenys during their time at Schoolcraft United Methodist Church? We'd love to hear your stories in the comments!

Thank you for helping us celebrate the people, ministries, and moments that continue to shape the story of Schoolcraft United Methodist Church.

❤️ Celebrating our past. Living our faith. Looking forward with hope.

🍂 Midweek Motivation 🍂

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
— Psalm 56:3

Fear and uncertainty can find their way into our lives in all kinds of ways. Sometimes it’s something big. Other times, it’s simply not knowing what tomorrow will bring.

Psalm 56 gives us a simple reminder of where we can turn in those moments: to God.

Trust doesn’t mean we’ll never feel afraid. It means that when fear comes, we don’t have to let it have the final word.

Whatever may be weighing on your heart this week, bring it to God. Take the next step with faith, knowing that He is with you through it all. đź’›

✨ Monday Reflections ✨

A new week is here.

Sometimes Monday arrives with a plan. We know exactly what needs to be done, where we need to go, and what the week ahead is supposed to look like.

And sometimes… we don't.

There may be things weighing on our hearts, decisions we're still trying to make, or situations where we simply don't know what comes next.

But we don't have to have the whole week figured out today.

Maybe this Monday is simply an opportunity to pause, spend a moment with God, and ask:

What do I need from God this week?

Strength?
Peace?
Patience?
Guidance?
Hope?

Whatever your answer might be, take a moment today to bring it to God in prayer—and remember to look for opportunities to be an answer to someone else's prayer along the way.

As we begin another week, may we trust God with what we know, what we don't know, and whatever comes next.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts.” — Psalm 28:7

What are you praying for as this new week begins?

📸 Throwback Thursday

Every church has a story, and every photo helps tell it.

This week's Throwback Thursday takes us back to the early 2000s, when members of our church family gathered for a workday in what appears to be our prayer garden. Whether planting, spreading mulch, or simply lending a helping hand, these volunteers came together to care for a special place on our church grounds.

Churches are built with more than bricks and mortar. They are built through the time, talents, and dedication of people who quietly serve behind the scenes. From maintaining our grounds to caring for places of prayer and reflection, every act of service helps create a welcoming space for worship, fellowship, and community.

As you look through these photos, you may recognize some familiar faces. Their willingness to serve is just one example of the many people who have shared their gifts over the years to help Schoolcraft United Methodist Church thrive.

Do you remember this workday? Do you know what year these photos were taken or what project was being completed? We'd love to hear your memories and any details you can share in the comments. Every story helps preserve the history of our church.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time and talents through the years. Your work has helped make Schoolcraft United Methodist Church the welcoming place it continues to be today.

❤️ Celebrating our past. Living our faith. Looking forward with hope.

🌻 Midweek Motivation 🌻

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9

Doing good can be tiring, especially when it feels like our efforts are going unnoticed or nothing seems to be changing.

But faithfulness is never wasted.

Every act of kindness, every moment of patience, and every choice to keep showing up matters more than we may realize.

God reminds us not to give up, because growth often happens long before we can see the results.

As this week continues, keep going. Keep doing good. Keep trusting that God is working through the seeds you are planting. 🌻
