TESTIMONY LOADING… 🙌
God answers prayer, but not always in the way we expect.
Since today was Memorial Day, one of the food ministries we partner with, Daily Bread Ministries, was closed. Knowing that, I went to Daily Bread Ministries on Friday and picked up a large amount of juice and dry goods to help prepare for Monday’s pantry distribution.
Normally, we also receive food on Saturdays and Sundays through a local supermarket partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank.
Before the weekend started, I messaged our team and asked everyone to pray for a large food distribution.
Saturday came…and honestly, it was one of our lowest food pickups in a long time. We did receive a large amount of microwaveable meals, but I remained hopeful that Sunday would be better.
Saturday was also our monthly PB&J Day outreach for our homeless community in downtown San Antonio. But severe thunderstorms and flood warnings rolled through the city. For safety reasons, we canceled the outreach just a couple of hours beforehand and decided to save the 84 prepared lunches for Monday’s pantry instead.
Then Sunday came…and again, another low food distribution.
But once more, we received a larger amount of microwaveable meals.
Today, we served just a couple people shy of our normal weekly average, and there was enough food for everyone!
As I watched the final family leave with food and the last two PB&J lunches go out the door, all I could feel was gratitude.
God answered our prayer.
Just not in the way I originally imagined.
I was asking Him for a double portion from the supermarket…
…but He sent a thunderstorm.
And through it, He made sure every family was provided for. ❤️
Sometimes God answers our prayers differently than we expected. Don’t let that discourage you. Thank Him anyway.
Today, we thank Him for His provision for our community. 🙏
