St. George Children’s Summer Camp 2026

What a great adventure! On our first day of camp, we headed outdoors to the beautiful YMCA Triangle Hills & Retreat Center, surrounded by nature and scenic views. We spent the day participating in various activities such as archery, climbing wall, games, and making new friends. We spent our second day of camp on the grounds of St. George where the kids had religion class, learned about first aid, got to feed some animals, and had a water balloon fight! The kids had an absolute blast and we can’t wait for camp to come around again!

Sunday, May 31, our St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Schererville, Indiana celebrated Pentecost.

Our Chanters, Ellie Rokosz, Ana Alavanja, Katarina Ozegovic, and Lili Markos beautifully sung the Antiphons for this special Feast Day.

Hearing children’s voices responding during the Divine Liturgy is like hearing angels singing praises to our Lord!

Lena Markovic and Sofija Kolar capably chanted the Epistles in Serbian and in English respectively.

Thank You for your participation in the Divine Liturgy on this great Feast Day!

We are having our summer camp on June 4 and June 5. On June 4, we will be heading to Triangle Hills Camp in Crown Point to do many outdoor activities. Lunch, snacks and a camp shirt are included on both days of the camp. On June 5, we will be doing religious education, games, a craft and much more on the grounds of St. George.

Deadline for registration is Saturday, May 23.

On Saturday, April 25, our parish of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Schererville was blessed with a beautiful and productive Church Clean-Up Day, as many dedicated volunteers gathered early in the morning to care for and improve our church property.

With great energy and a spirit of cooperation, parishioners of all ages participated in a wide variety of projects, including:

- Grading of the old playground
- Work and improvements around the Old Hall
- Repainting the foundations of the light posts and parking curbs
- Organizing and cleaning inside the church library
- Trimming trees and landscaping
- Raking leaves
- Removing dry branches and clearing litter throughout the property
- And many other needed tasks

The day was a wonderful opportunity to serve God and one another, to strengthen our fellowship and to take pride in the sacred place where we gather for worship and community life.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Christ is risen! Indeed, He is risen!

With great joy, we invite you, your families, and your friends to join us for the celebration of our parish’s Slava on Sunday, May 3rd, at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church.

Our parish Slava is one of the most sacred and joyful days in our community’s life. It is a time when we gather in prayer, thanksgiving, and love to honor our heavenly patron and ask for God’s continued blessings upon our parish and all its faithful.

The celebration will begin with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 9:30 AM. Following the Liturgy, we will gather for the traditional procession (Litya) around the church, and for the blessing of the Slava bread (Slavski kolač) and koljivo—beautiful expressions of our Orthodox faith and heritage.

After the services, a festive banquet will be held in the Halls of St. George.

Come lend a helping hand as we work together to beautify and care for our church property. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve, fellowship, and take pride in the place where we gather for worship and community.
