Your donations are being spent wisely. Among improvements to roads and hazardous tree removals, we are also allocating funds to repair historic gravestones that have been broken for decades. This stone was in a deplorable state of disrepair. It is beautiful now!

Our cemetery is the final resting place for countless infants and children who passed in the 19th and early 20th centuries—lives tragically cut short by diseases and infections that, at the time, had no cure.

Little Francis died in 1880, shortly after his first birthday.

It’s deeply moving to see that even after so many years, a child is not forgotten—remembered through the simple, beautiful act of a stranger placing flowers at his resting place.

This spring, Albany Diocesan Cemeteries proudly marks 17 years of providing in-house monument cleaning and restoration services.

Our program—developed by our full-time historian and preservationist—was created to help families care for their loved ones’ monuments in a safe, respectful, and affordable way. Over time, lichen, mold, and environmental pollutants can build up, making inscriptions difficult to read and diminishing the natural beauty of the stone. Our expert restoration services gently bring these memorials back to life.
We offer free, no-obligation quotes to help you choose the right level of care for your family’s monument.

💚 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫: For every restoration service completed in May, we will “pay it forward” by cleaning a 19th-century gravestone in honor of your family.
To learn more or request your free quote, contact Kelly Grimaldi at 518-350-7679 or email [email protected].

I found these interesting wooden blocks that have a thin metal plate with images of our old receiving vault and notable burial sites located in St. Agnes Cemetery. I’m guessing they are really old camera negatives. Can anyone confirm what they are? They are so cool!

Notice to our visitors and families, our offices will be closed on Monday, January 26th, due to the anticipated inclement weather.

The winter storm in the forecast for Sunday and Monday will make accessing our cemetery roads difficult. We ask that you please refrain from visiting unless you are with a funeral procession. Our field crew will do their best to plow the main roads in all 23 of our cemeteries in a timely manner.

Please be patient with us and stay safe!

The staff at Albany Diocesan Cemeteries is very grateful to everyone who gave so generously to our first-ever Christmas Campaign! Together, we raised over $60,000, which we will use to make improvements on our sacred grounds! This money will help fix historic monuments, crumbling roads, and take down dangerously decayed trees.

We strive to keep our cemeteries in good repair, but it is a daunting and very expensive endeavor. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed to our Christmas Campaign. Work will begin this spring. If you haven't sent your donation yet, there is still time to help us!
