What an amazing weekend at St. Peter! You may have seen us as part of the Septemberfest activities. We want to thank the community for parking on our property—our school is a gift to us and the community, and your support means the world to us. We loved handing out water to fest-goers and having the opportunity to pray with and for you all. God is good! St. Peter has been blessed to be part of the Schaumburg community for over 179 years!

Today's Prayer Focus
Pray that all welcome the pastor God sends.

Scripture & Reflection
Romans 15:7 - Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.

Our next senior pastor will not be perfect. But I would encourage every member of St. Peter to perfectly welcome him. Even when he does something unpopular or unexpected! He will move something you loved. He will preach and pray and lead differently than what you are used to. That is simply what happens when a new leader steps up. Today, pray for a congregation ready to receive change with joy.

Prayer
Father, You welcomed us in Christ long before we deserved it. Teach us to welcome the same way. Prepare our hearts now for the pastor You will send, and give us joy in receiving him. When he changes something we loved, keep us from bitterness. When he leads in a way we did not expect, keep us from grumbling. Guard us from measuring him against what we have had. He will not be perfect, Lord, but make us a congregation that welcomes him perfectly. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Today's Prayer Focus
Pray that we would give the new pastor grace.

Reflection
Colossians 3:12–13
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another... as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

A new pastor will need grace because he will be new. He will not know every name, every tradition, every history, or every reason we do things the way we do. He will make decisions we appreciate and some we may question. He will also make mistakes, because every pastor does. Christian grace does not mean that concerns can never be raised or that leaders are beyond accountability. It means we deal with one another as people who have first been forgiven by Christ. Today, pray that St. Peter will become a congregation where our new senior pastor can learn, lead, grow, and even make mistakes without being defined by them.

Prayer
Merciful Father, You have shown us immeasurable grace in Your Son. Teach us to extend that grace to the pastor You send to St. Peter. Give us patience while he learns our people and our ministry. Give us humility when we disagree and courage to speak with him rather than about him. When he makes mistakes, make us quick to forgive and eager to restore. Guard him from the pressure to please everyone, and guard us from expecting him to be everything. Let our life together be shaped by the grace we have received in Jesus Christ. Amen.

In Christ,
Jerry Hays

Today's Prayer Focus
Pray that our church continues to be a light in the community.

Scripture & Reflection
Mathew 5:14, 16 - You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden...In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

As we are reminded in Matthew 5, we as St. Peter are called to be the light of the world, and let that ligh shine brightly in our community. We do not shine because of our own goodness, but because Christ has called us out of darkness and made us His own. In a world that is often filled with fear, division, and uncertianity, we should take this call process as an opportunity to recommit to the duty of proclaiming the hope, forgiveness, and salvation that are found in Jesus Christ. Let our prayers rise to our Father in Heaven, pleadding to Him to give us strength and courage to never waver from reflecting HIs light, now and always.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, You have called us to be the light of the world through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that we, the families of St. Peter, would faithfully shine the light of Christ throughout Schaumburg and wherever You have placed us. Give us courage to proclaim Your Word, compassion to serve our neighbors, and faithfulness to live as examples of Your love and grace. May all that we say and do point peoeple not to ourselves, but to Christ alone. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Today's Prayer Focus
Pray for our elders, council, and lay leaders.

Scripture & Reflection
Acts 20:28 - Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.

During a pastoral transition, our lay leaders carry more than usual. Elders, council members, and ministry leaders keep the day-to-day of this church running. Budgets, buildings, worship schedules, and hard conversations. And most of them are doing it after a full day at work. So today, pray for our leaders. Pray for their marriages, their sleep, and their patience. Pray that they would be in the Word and at the Table, receiving before they give. And if you know one of them, tell them thank you this week.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the Good Shepherd, and You have given us under shepherds to care for this flock. Bless our elders, our council, our ministry leaders, and everyone serving behind the scenes at St. Peter. Strengthen them for the work You have given them. Guard their families. Give them wisdom in their decisions and grace in their disagreements. Keep them in Your Word and at Your Table, that they would be fed before they feed others. And where they are weary, Lord, carry them. In Your name we pray. Amen.

In Christ,
Matt Dubensky
