“Personal interpretation of the Bible” is p**p theology when it ignores context, history, language, and the full counsel of Scripture.
People say, “Well, this verse means this to me,” as if the Bible was written to be endlessly reshaped by feelings and opinions. Scripture is not a build a bear workshop for doctrine.
The Bible can have personal application, but it does not have private meaning.
Peter literally warned that no prophecy of Scripture is of “private interpretation” (2 Peter 1:20). Yet modern Christianity often treats personal interpretation like the highest authority above context, the original audience, and even the character of God revealed through Christ.
Not every opinion deserves equal weight just because someone says, “That’s how I see it.”
Truth matters.
Context matters.
Sound doctrine matters.
