Picture Jerusalem at full volume.

Priests processing through the streets with a golden pitcher of water. Crowds waving branches, singing, flutes playing. Seven days of celebration building to a fever pitch β€” and then at the height of it all, Jesus stands up in the middle of the crowd and shouts.
That's where we were last Sunday for Pentecost. John 7:37-39 gives us a Pentecost that feels different than Acts 2's wind and fire. Quieter. Closer. More daily. Rivers of living water flowing out of the deepest place inside us β€” out to the people right around us.

If you missed it or want to watch again, the sermon is linked below.
Come. Drink. And let the river move.

Loneliness might be the most universal human experience nobody talks about.

This past Sunday we looked at the promise Jesus made the night before his crucifixion β€” and what it means for every one of us carrying something we can't quite put into words.

You are not an orphan.

Watch this week's sermon below. πŸ“– John 14:15–21

This past Sunday we spent time in John 14:1–14 β€” one of the most important passages in all of Scripture. Jesus says three words that contain the entire gospel:

"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life."

This isn't a list of three separate qualities. It's a progression. A road with a destination.

He is the Way β€” the road itself, not just directions. The early church knew this. Before they were ever called Christians, followers of Jesus were known as followers of The Way (Acts 9:2, 19:9). The Greek word is hodos β€” the same word Jesus uses in John 14:6.

He is the Truth β€” not a list of correct doctrines, but Truth as a Person. The Greek word here is aletheia, the full and complete self-disclosure of God in human flesh. (A quick note for those who were there Sunday β€” I misspoke and said logos in the moment. Logos means "word" and is deeply related β€” think John 1:1 β€” but aletheia is the specific word for truth in this verse. Same neighborhood, slightly different address.)

He is the Life β€” not bios, mere biological existence, but zōē β€” the very life of God himself, flowing through relationship with Jesus.

Thomas asked the question that produced the answer. "Lord, we don't know where you are going. How can we know the way?" He was looking right at it.

A huge thank you to my friends Dave and Cody at Pop Culture Pastor for being part of the inspiration behind this sermon. Their ministry is built on the conviction that the stories we love aren't accidents β€” that we recognize the echoes of the greatest Storyteller even when we don't know what we're hearing. If that idea resonates with you, go find them wherever you listen to podcasts.

This is the Way. And his name is Jesus.

We often quote the second half of John 10:10 and miss the first.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."

Jesus is being precise. There is an enemy. He steals quietly and patiently. He kills without announcement. He destroys and leaves wreckage behind.

Most of us have felt all three. Most of us never filed a report.

But the Shepherd restores what was stolen. He resurrects what was killed. He rebuilds what was destroyed.

This past Sunday we looked at one of the most misunderstood figures in the Gospel of John β€” Thomas.

Not "Doubting Thomas." Thomas the bold. Thomas who said, "Let us also go, that we may die with him." Thomas who, when Jesus showed up, spoke the words that are the summit of John's entire Gospel:

"My Lord and my God."

Jesus came back β€” for Thomas. And what Thomas thought he needed turned out to be far less than what he actually received.

If you weren't able to join us last Sunday, or you'd like to hear the message again, the sermon is linked below. We'd love for you to share it with someone who might need it.

"Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." β€” John 20:29

That beatitude is for you.

He is risen! πŸ™Œ

This past Sunday morning we looked at one of the most overlooked details of the resurrection account in John 20 β€” the grave clothes Jesus left behind in the tomb.

They tell a story. And it's a story that has everything to do with you and me.

He is risen indeed. Hallelujah.
