Remembering a Pearl Member having over 60 years of service - Deaconess Lauramae Heyward Campbell - She grew up in LBBC and at 11 years old was baptized. She had been longstanding and active from a litte girl attending Sunday School and singing in the various choirs from the Junior choir to the present Mass Choir where she served as Chaplain. In Sunday School she was promoted to every class to presently serving as teacher to the Adult Class. She also served VBS several years as principal.
As a soloist, her voice was melodious just like her mother's, Mrs. Dorothy Heyward, who was a member of LBBC. Sis. Lauramae led many hymns and songs as a Deaconess. Her most noted songs, I Don't Know About Tomorrow, I'll Say Yes Lord Yes, One Day I'm Going Where Jesus Is, and Let Your Glory Fill This House.
Her other Ministries include: President of the Mission, Mission in Action, Pastor Aide, Virtuous Women, Young People's Association, New Converts Class Instructor, and support to many other efforts of LBBC.
Sis. Campbell worked diligently as secretary and financial secretary with the Zion Missionary Baptist Association (Crescent, GA) where she served several Presidents of the Zion Congress of Christian and worked diligently alongside Deans Gwen L. Davis, Betty West and Kathy Morgan as secretary. She also served faithfully in the Women's Auxiliary in Zion.
Sis. Campbell as a very young adult, will forever be remembered as finding her true love at LBBC, Bro. Glynnard Campbell. Their love and Christian growth blossomed equally as parents of six children and becoming spiritual leaders as they faithfully accepted their promotions to Deacon and Deaconess titles. Together they traveled to conventions of the district, state and national levels to enhance their knowledge through Christian Education. They enjoyed over 40 years of marriage untjl Dea. Campbell was called from his earthly work in the year 2015. As an only child, through marriage, she gained 5 siblings and parents in love Dea. William Campbell and Mother Sadie Campbell whom she adored.
Sis. Lauramae Campbell is remembered for raising six beautiful children (Keynnard, Rodney, Glynnece, Rodvick, Glynnis and Jacob) in the way of the Lord and they in return were ardent members and blessings to the LBBC fellowship. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are a blessed extension of her love.
Surely, we at LBBC will miss her gentle sweetness, smiles, hugs, encouraging words, teaching, prayers, and numerous characteristics that drew others to her embrace.
